Vintage Thank You

Hello Everyone!  Today's card is for a couple of things, the first is Edna's Hope You Can Cling To challenge at Splitcoaststampers, you can find all the details in the HYCCT Forum at SCS!  The second thing is, I got to play with a new JustRite stamp set!!  YAY!!  :)  This is part of their new Fleur de Lis Labels Twenty set and I thought it would be perfect with the Lace Borders to create a vintage styled card.

I've started with blue bazzill and layered with Very Vanilla and Authentique Journey DP.  Next I've added another panel of vanilla topped with some more Journey.  Across these panels I've added a piece of Very Vanilla that I've run through a crimper and topped with some white tissue paper that has been stamped with Lace Borders in Memento Summer Sky and cut out with scissors.  I've then stamped the Fleur de Lis Labels 20 stamp in Summer Sky and cut out with Spellbinders Labels 20 Nestabilities and popped up on foam tape.  The sentiment is from the same set, stamped in Memento Rich Cocoa and made into a notched tag secured by a butterfly, also from the same set stamped in Rich Cocoa and coloured with B21 and RV00.  I've added an identical butterful to the lace border and finished with a few pink pearls in the top corners.

Stamps - Fleur de Lis Labels Twenty (JustRite)
Paper - Blue Bazzill, Very Vanilla, Authentique Journey DP
Ink - Memento Summer Sky, Memento Rich Cocoa
Accessories - Copics, Crimper, Scissors, Foam Tape, Pink Pearls.

Topsy Turvy Cakes!

Hello Everyone!!  Before we start the November Release,  JustRite  would like to say thank you to all of our loyal blog and facebook fans!!  JustRite appreciates each and everyone who visits and reads our post.  As their way of saying thank you the blog team has an exclusive coupon code for our blog readers and facebook fans. Today we are showcasing the totally fun and happy JustRite Clear set - Topsy Turvy Cakes!!!  Oh My - this one is sooooo much fun and fabulous to colour!!!  Of course with such images and themes, I just had to make a bright, fun card and since the cake was all topsy turvy, I figured the panels may as well be wonky as well (not that I'm usually fond of panels that aren't straight!).
I've used a base of yellow bazzill, chocolate chip and Modern Homemaker DP.  The next panel is more chocolate and more DP.  Over these panels I've added two pieces of ivory satin ribbon.  I've stamped the cake from Topsy Turvy Cakes in Memento Tuxedo Black onto X-press It Blending Card and coloured with Copics (B21, G20, G21, Y11, Y13, RV000, RV32, RV34).  I've cut it out and popped it up on a panel of Very Vanilla cut with Long Rectangle Nestabilities that's been stamped with the sentiment from the same set in Memento Rich Cocoa and framed with chocolate chip cut with Long Scalloped Rectangle Nestabilities.  I've finished by adding a rhinestone flourish, a couple of rhinestones to the corner and a few flowers.

Don't miss the fabulous creations the team has made for you today!!!

Swimming for Katie

Hello Everyone!  Today's card is a special one made for the Swimming for Katie shout outs that are going on in Blog World and on Facebook.  If you haven't heard about Katie Renz's story, here's some background....

Katie’s cancer story started just before Christmas last year.  This young, beautiful, healthy, vibrant mother of 3 with her infectious smile was suddenly diagnosed with an inoperable cancer, virtually overnight.  A few tummy aches and then stage 4 gastric cancer.  Her first post about it is here.

The idea of “Swimming for Katie” came from her recent post here.

Her post reminded me of Finding Nemo:  “Don’t give up!  Just keep swimming! Keep swimming…just keep swimming…” because that was the only way to survive and escape from the fisherman’s net.

Katie is a papercrafter and has been on design teams as well as a co-ordinator.  I can't imagine how difficult things are for her and her family right now - we are the same age, both with 3 young children, it so easily could have been me.  Papercrafters are an amazing lot, a few illustrators have used their talent to design digital stamps that are being sold at I *heart* Papers and all proceeds are going to the Renz family.  I chose Marianne Walker's Keep Swimming Mermaid stamp and sentiment set!  You can find the fundraising stamps HERE or the information and Donate page HERE.

Stamps - Keep Swimming Mermaid (Marianne Walker)
Paper - X-press It Blending Card, Aqua Bazzill, White, More Mustard, MME Hattie DP
Ink - Canon Printer Black
Accessories - Copics, Large, Small and Eyelet Circle Nestabilities, Clear and Buttermilk Spica Pens, Fiskars Threading Water Punch, Teal Button, Organdy ribbon, Bow Easy, Kaisercraft Snow Pearls.

At the moment, Katie is back in the hospital and very ill.  Please buy a digi stamp or donate to support this family, it's such a small thing, but if the papercraft community pulls together, we can do it!

JRC_060 Sketch Challenge!

Hello Everyone!!!  Today's challenge from JustRite Stampers is a SKETCH CHALLENGE!!!  WOOHOO!!!!  I love a good sketch to get the juices going!!  :)  You can find all the details for today's challenge on the JustRite Inspiration Blog!!  Here's the sketch if you want to get going straight away....
I've used the new CLEAR set by JustRite called O Christmas Tree for today's card.  You know you have to get cracking on those Christmas Cards when you walk into your nearest supermarket and all the Christmas Decorations are out already!!  :-0  I've stamped the tree, stump and star in Memento Tuxedo Black onto X-press It Blending Card and coloured with Copics (Y21, Y35, Y38, E13, E15, E17, G20).  These shapes are really easy to cut with scissors and then I've glued them together.  The base is made of dark green bazzill, white and some Cosmo Cricket Mitten Weather DP.  The next panel is more white and more DP from the same paper pad.  I've punched the bottom and scored from the points of the punched edge then wrapped some silver satin ribbon around it.  I've used Fancy Tags Two to cut out the decorative panel and popped the tree up on foam tape.  To finish I've added a bow and several clear rhinestones.
I've stamped the back with my name and blog addy with the My Blog, My Card stamper!!  I love this thing - it makes my life sooooooooo much easier!!!  :)

Stamps - O Christmas Tree (JustRite)
Paper - X-press It Blending Card, Green Bazzill, White, Cosmo Cricket Mitten Weather DP

BBB15 Beauty of a Technique!

Hello Everyone!!!  There are so many on-line resources sharing tips and techniques with stampers. One surefire favourite is the Resource Library over at SCS! So, this month’s Bring Back Beautiful Challenge is to be inspired by a technique you love, or maybe one you've never tried! Link up your Bring Back Beautiful Challenge creation HERE to enter. If you upload to SCS, please use the keyword BBB15. You have until October 31st to enter! As we unveil our challenge for next month, we’ll share our True Beauties – those card makers who wowed us with this challenge! Winners will be featured on the Flourishes Blog and will receive a True Beauty blog button to display proudly on their blog!

Well I had a lovely stroll through the Resource Library at SCS and found a technique that I hadn't tried before --- FAUX TILE!!  I thought I'd try something new!!  :)

I began with a base of yellow bazzill, layered with Chocolate Chip and some Authentique Blissful DP.  Down one side I've added more yellow bazzill punched with the Iron Gate Punch and topped with some May Arts Satin Ribbon.  I've stamped the beehive from Flourishes' Bee My Honey set in Memento Tuxedo Black and coloured with Copic Markers (RV55, RV63, RV66, Y11, Y15, Y17, BG0000, B32, B34, BV11, BV13, YG91, YG93, YG13, G21, G24, G28, E31, E33, E35, YR20, YR23, YR24, N0).  I cut the image out with Large Square Nestabilities (the one that's a 3 inch square) and cut it in 1 inch squares.  Then I added Dimensional Magic to each of the squares and left it to dry.  The Dimensional Magic is water based, so as you can see, it doesn't affect the Copic colouring in anyway!  :)  I found the next morning that my squares were a little curved from the DM and when I tried to flatten them a bit they cracked, so some of my 'tiles' are cracked!

Next I glued them to a 3 3/8in piece of Chocolate Chip and put something heavy on it while it dried to keep it flat.  Finally I adhered it to a piece of yellow cut with Lacey Square Nestabilities and added a bow to the ribbon.
I've decided to add some basic decoration on the inside by stamping the beehive in the bottom corner and the sentiment in the top corner in Memento Rich Cocoa.

Don't miss the other awesome creations made by the team this month.....

Hello Everyone and Happy World Card Making Day!!!!  :)  I hope you all have a chance to get inky this week-end to celebrate!!

Today I'm playing along with the My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Challenge - a nice easy one this week (even if there is a tilted panel!!!!).  I have wanted this cute little My Umbrella girl for long time and she FINALLY came to live at my place recently, so I decided today was the day to ink her up!!

I've used a base of Riding Hood Red, Very Vanilla, Chocolate chip and some October Afternoon Modern Homemaker DP.  Across this I've added some chocolate satin ribbon and some yellow satin ribbon.  The middle panel is more Vanilla, a strip of chocolate punched with the SU Scallop punch and more Homemaker DP.  The sweet PI girl has been stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black onto X-press It Blending Card and coloured with Copics (E000, E01, E11, E21, E23, E25, BG11, BG13, BG72, BG75).  I've paper pieced her raincoat with more Homemaker DP and popped the whole thing up on foam tape.  The sentiment is from the same set and has been cut out with Labels 18 Nestabilities, ran a BG11 marker around the edge and pierced underneath it.  To finish I've added some bling, a bow and a rose!  :)

Stamps - My Umbrella (MFT)
Paper - X-press it Blending Card, Riding Hood Red, Very Vanilla, Chocolate Chip, October Afternoon Modern Homemaker DP
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories - Copics, Labels 18, Chocolate Ribbon, Yellow Ribbon, Bow Easy, ZVA Flower, Paper Piercer, Mat Pack, Kaisercraft Silver Rhinestones.

That's all from me today, thanks for visiting!!  :)
