JustRite and Faber Castell Hop!

Hello Everyone and welcome to Day 2 of the JustRite Papercraft and Faber Castell Mixed Media Hop!!  Not only is there a feast for the eyes along the hop today......but you can WIN PRIZES!!!!

To win one of today's prize packages --- leave comments on each designers blog post and two lucky people will be selected from the chosen blogs as the WINNERS!!!!  Comments will be open until March 22nd at midnight USA EST.  What will they win???  How about these......

Well Mixed Media has usually scared me a bit - I'm not normally a 'messy hands' kind of crafter, but I have to say it was quite liberating to not be so particular and just let go!  So I didn't just dabble, I completely jumped off the deep end and made a......CANVAS!!!  I know, I shocked myself too!!  ;-)
(I completely forgot to take step by step pics while I was making this - so I've recreated it for the tutorial, but it won't look 'exactly' like the original, sorry about that!)
I've used a 6" x 8" Canvas (15cm x 20cm) and covered it with Impasto Medium (I didn't have Gesso, but figured this would work).  Then I've torn up strips of paper, attaching them with more Impasto.  It didn't matter that it made the papers more 'white' since I was going to cover them anyway.
I've made sure this was dry using my heat gun and then scribbled on some Faber-Castell Gelatos - Metallic Mint, Metallic Blueberry and Metallic Grape and started to blend with a wet paintbrush (it was included in the Mix & Match Metallic Gelatos set).
If it is a bit heavy in a particular area, you can simply lighten it by brushing it with a bit more water, or using a baby wipe!
Next I stamped the Grand Damask Background stamp and the 'Butterfly' and 'Dreams' sentiments from Winged Vintage Labels Two & Three set with black Brilliance ink all over the canvas.
The butterfly from Winged Vintage Labels Two & Three has been stamped twice in Brilliance ink and dried well and then I've scribbled some Metallic Melon and Gold Gelato over them, blending with a wet brush.

I've made sure the canvas was very dry before the next step.  I've then used a piece of white card cut with Spellbinders Basic Lattice die and placed it over one side and brushed on some white paste to add some dimension.  The butterflies have been cut out with the matching Spellbinders Wonderful Wings die and attached to the canvas.
Finally I've stamped three words from the same stamp set and hand cut them and attached them to the canvas and accented the project (when dry!) with a Gold Pitt Artist pen (from the Mix & Match Metallic Mixed Media Sampler) - LOVE this pen!!  :)  And there you have it - my very first Mixed Media project!!  :)
Want even more inspiration????  Stop by these amazing blogs and see what incredible projects await you......

Thanks for popping by, enjoy the hop and don't forget to COMMENT for your chance to WIN!!!!
