BBB15 Beauty of a Technique!

Hello Everyone!!!  There are so many on-line resources sharing tips and techniques with stampers. One surefire favourite is the Resource Library over at SCS! So, this month’s Bring Back Beautiful Challenge is to be inspired by a technique you love, or maybe one you've never tried! Link up your Bring Back Beautiful Challenge creation HERE to enter. If you upload to SCS, please use the keyword BBB15. You have until October 31st to enter! As we unveil our challenge for next month, we’ll share our True Beauties – those card makers who wowed us with this challenge! Winners will be featured on the Flourishes Blog and will receive a True Beauty blog button to display proudly on their blog!

Well I had a lovely stroll through the Resource Library at SCS and found a technique that I hadn't tried before --- FAUX TILE!!  I thought I'd try something new!!  :)

I began with a base of yellow bazzill, layered with Chocolate Chip and some Authentique Blissful DP.  Down one side I've added more yellow bazzill punched with the Iron Gate Punch and topped with some May Arts Satin Ribbon.  I've stamped the beehive from Flourishes' Bee My Honey set in Memento Tuxedo Black and coloured with Copic Markers (RV55, RV63, RV66, Y11, Y15, Y17, BG0000, B32, B34, BV11, BV13, YG91, YG93, YG13, G21, G24, G28, E31, E33, E35, YR20, YR23, YR24, N0).  I cut the image out with Large Square Nestabilities (the one that's a 3 inch square) and cut it in 1 inch squares.  Then I added Dimensional Magic to each of the squares and left it to dry.  The Dimensional Magic is water based, so as you can see, it doesn't affect the Copic colouring in anyway!  :)  I found the next morning that my squares were a little curved from the DM and when I tried to flatten them a bit they cracked, so some of my 'tiles' are cracked!

Next I glued them to a 3 3/8in piece of Chocolate Chip and put something heavy on it while it dried to keep it flat.  Finally I adhered it to a piece of yellow cut with Lacey Square Nestabilities and added a bow to the ribbon.
I've decided to add some basic decoration on the inside by stamping the beehive in the bottom corner and the sentiment in the top corner in Memento Rich Cocoa.
