Card Class at ABSA

Hello Everyone!!  Just a quick post today - I'm teaching a beginner card class tonight at ABSA and thought I'd show you what we'll be working on using products available from from the store.  I also ran this class last week and the ladies all enjoyed themselves, so I hope the same can be said of tonight!  :)

We've based all three cards on the Kaisercraft Clear stamps available in the store, some fun Cosmo Cricket DSP and teaching the ladies how to use border punches, embossing folders and Spellbinders (you know how much I love my Spellbinders!!).

This card is super basic in construction - the fun is all in the flower!!!  I had to die cut 240 flowers all up for the 24 ladies doing the classes!!!  Don't know if I want to do that again in a hurry - but they turned out awesome!!  :)

Stamps - Kaisercraft
Paper - Lemonade, Limeade, Tomato Bazzill, White, Cosmo Cricket Strawberry Fields (both sides)
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black, Memento Ladybug
Accessories - Large Circle and Scallop Circle, Large Oval and Scallop Oval, Dahlia, Daisy Heads Spellbinders, Fiskars Lacy Days of Summer and Lace Border Punches, Swiss Dots and Gootchi Script Embossing Folders, Red and White Satin Ribbon, Kaisercraft Red Pearls, Foam Tape.

That's all for today, thanks for visiting!!!  :)

2S4Y51 In God's Hands

Hello Everyone!!!  Today I had the chance to play with the new set from Our Daily Bread Designs called God's Hands that will be available from May 1st!  I also used this week's sketch from 2 Sketches 4 You as the layout for this card.  I wanted to keep it soft and simple to go with the sketch.

I started with a base of white, layered with some light blue bazzill and then more white embossed with the Nat embossing Folder.  Next I stamped the hand in Memento Tuxedo Black onto X-press It Blending Card and coloured with copics (E00, E02, RV10, B21, 0) and cut out with the Label 4 nestabilities, matting with blue bazzill also cut with Label 4 nesties and popped up on foam tape.  I stamped the sentiment on to white and cut with the Ribbon Tags Trio 2 and attached to the card with some blue satin ribbon.  To finish I added a small satin bow to the ribbon and some Kaisercraft Snow Pearls (that I coloured with a B21 copic to make them a matching blue) to the corners.

Stamps - God's Hands (ODBD)
Paper - White, Blue Bazzill, X-press It Blending Card
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories - Label 4 Nestabilties, Ribbon Tags Trio 2 Shapeabilities, Copics, Cuttlebug Nat EF, Blue Satin Ribbon, Bow Easy, Kaisercraft Snow Pearls, Foam Tape.

That's all for now, thanks for visiting!!!  :)

ANZAC Day...

Today is ANZAC Day in Australia, a poignant day when we remember those who lost their lives fighting for our country.  Yesterday when I saw the challenges for Crazy 4 Challenges to case one of their designers and Our Creative Corner's challenge to use blossoms I knew exactly what I was going to do.  I cased Silke Kittmann's beautiful card and the blossom I chose is the poppy - the symbol used on ANZAC Day.

I used the poppy from JustRite's Plant a Little Love set and coloured it with Copics (R22, R27, YG11, YG63, YG67, E29) and cut it out and popped it up.  I made the sentiment using the Trompe Uppercase and Trompe Lowercase Font sets.  I did use the same large scallop punch that Silke did - unfortunately you can't see it in this photograph.

Stamps - Plant a Little Love, Trompe Uppercase, Trompe Lowercase Font Sets (JustRite)
Paper - Black and Green Bazzill, White, X-press It Blending Card, Kaisercraft DSP
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories - Small and Large Circle Nestabilities, Blossom Nestabilities, EK Success Embossed Curve Border Punch, Copics, 1" Red Satin Ribbon, Bow Easy, Silver Cord, White Button, Scissors, Foam Tape.

Like most Australians we will be watching the ANZAC Day marches, honouring those who returned and remembering those who lost their lives.  Our family was very fortunate, my grandfather and my grandmother's two brothers all saw combat overseas during WW2 and returned home.  My uncle went to Vietnam and also returned home.  Not everyone was so lucky.  On ANZAC Day about 20yrs ago my mother showed me some old newspaper cuttings, the story of a young man who was like a brother to her.  On 7 June 1971, 2nd Lieutenant Ian Mathers aged 22yrs, died in combat in Vietnam.  About the same time, my Mum found out she was pregnant with her first child - me.  I still remember the look of sadness on her face as she showed me those clippings about this young man who was going to be a doctor.  She wanted me know a bit about him, so that on ANZAC Day someone else would remember him.  Every ANZAC Day since then, as I remember all those who died, I especially remember Ian Mathers, someone I never knew, but whom my mother loved so much.

QFTD05 - Great Perks!

Today I FINALLY got the change to play the Queen for the Day challenge at SCS!!  This week the honour went to Coffeestamper aka Sue aka Perk who is such a sweetheart, so of course I just HAD to play!!!  I really couldn't decide which card to case so I kind of merged two together!  :)  I really liked the Coffee Themed Card because of the colours and the band across the bottom and of course I just HAD to make a coffee themed card for our Perk!!  The other one I liked was the Hawgt Farmer Sentiment card - I really liked this layout.  So I merged all the bits I liked together......and of course I added a big bow!!!  LOL!!!

I started with a base of chocolate chip, layered with white and some Bella Rose DSP.  Across the bottom is another piece of chocolate that I punched with a Threading Water Punch and then added some ribbon around it.  The vertical panel is more chocolate layered with more Bella Rose.  My feature panel has been stamped using JustRite's Just A Little Caffeine Set in Memento Rich Cocoa and coloured with Copics (E33, E35, E37).  I cut it out with circle nestabilities and matted it with chocolate and Riding Hood Red cut with Blossom Nestabilities and popped the panel up on foam tape.  I finish I added some tiny Kaisercraft Snow Pearls to the scallops of the blossom die cut and of course a big bow to the ribbon and topped it with a red button and some silver cord.

Stamps - Just A Little Caffeine (JustRite)
Paper - Chocolate Chip, Riding Hood Red, White, X-press It Blending Card, Bella Rose DSP
Ink - Memento Rich Cocoa
Accessories - Large Circle Nestabilities, Blossom Nestabilities, Copics, Fiskars Threading Water Punch, May Arts 1" White Satin Ribbon, Bow Easy, Red Button, Silver Cord, Kasiercraft Snow Pearls, Foam Tape.

Celebrating By The Sea

Hello Everyone and welcome to the JustRite Stampers Blog Hop!!!  Today we are celebrating the release of five beautiful new sets available from JustRite this month - Applique, Hope, Kaleidoscope, Let's Celebrate and By the Sea.  I've chosen By the Sea to showcase today - it has four borders and centers that fit the large oval stamper.  I've gone with a very nautical theme using navy, red, ivory and a touch of kraft!

I started with a base of Not Quite Navy and layered with Kraft and red bazzill.  The red layer I embossed with Divine Swirl across the top (for waves :) ) and the Dotted Wave Border Punch across the bottom.  Across the bottom of this layer I added some My Mind's Eye Lush DSP that I sponged with a little Antique Linen ink.  Across the join I attached some light brown grosgrain ribbon.  I stamped the center and border from By the Sea in Memento Rich Cocoa and coloured it with Copics (E31, E35, E37, R22, R27, YR32, Y21, C1) and added a little sparkle to the sea with the atyou Spica Clear Pen.  I then cut it out with Large Oval Nestabilities and sponged it with a little Antique Linen ink and then matted it with some Navy cut with the Label 8 Nestabilities and popped it up on foam tape.  I created the sentiment using the Times New Roman Lowercase Font and cut a notched tag, sponged with more Antique Linen ink and added a navy button and some natural twine and then finished by adding a couple of silver brads to the top corner.

Stamps - By the Sea, Times New Roman Lowercase Font (JustRite)
Paper - Not Quite Navy, Kraft, Red Bazzill, X-press It Blending Card, MME Lush DSP
Ink - Memento Rich Cocoa, Not Quite Navy, Tim Holtz Antique Linen
Accessories - Label 8 and Large Oval Nestabilities, Copics, Clear Spica Pen, Divine Swirl EF, EK Success Dotted Wave Border Punch, Light Brown Grosgrain Ribbon, Navy Blue Button, Natural Twine, Silver Brads, Foam Tape.

Rising...

Hello Everyone!!  Today I got to play in The Shabby Tea Room Challenge which was to use squares and be inspired by a vintage quilt.  I was working away with these squares when I realised this would be perfect for the Our Creative Corner Sketch Challenge OCCSC11 this week as well!!  I've also used the brand new set by JustRite Stampers called HOPE, a set of 4 encouraging centres and borders.

I started with a base of white and layered with some pink bazzill.  Next I cut 8 of the smaller Fleur de Lis Pendant dies in white and laid them out like a quilt and then added a piece of pink satin ribbon to one side.  I then took a piece of square white card and embossed it and popped it up in the centre.  Next I stamped the centre and border from Hope and stamped it in Black and Old Olive Ink, adding touches of colour to the hearts and then matted with some green and pink bazzill and popped this panel on top of the embossed layer.  Finally I added a pink satin bow to the ribbon and topped with a prima flower and added some Kaisercraft Rose Pearls to the other three corner squares.

Stamps - Hope (JustRite)
Paper - White, Pink Bazzill, Green Bazzill
Ink - Black, Old Olive, Pretty in Pink
Accessories - Fleur de Lis Pendant die, Square Nestabilities, Victoria EF, 1" Pink Satin Ribbon, Bow Easy, Prima Flower, Kaisercraft Rose Pearls, Foam Tape.

Hello Everyone!!  Today I have a card that I've made for the JustRite Stampers Challenge which is sponsored this week by Spellbinders!!  You have to use two JustRite Stamp Sets and at least two different Spellbinders die shapes!!  There are great prizes up for grabs so check it out on the JustRite Blog!!!  I've also used the sketch from this week's Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge MTSC69 - the muse this month is none other than our own JustRite Girl Debbie Olsen!!

I've used three Spellbinders shapes - Large Oval Nestabilities, Large Circle Nestabilities and Label 11 Nestabilities.  The two JustRite sets I've used are the Breath of Spring for the Lillies of the Valley and the sentiment is from the Tiny Words set.  The Tiny Words set, along with all products in the 1 3/16th size are 20% off for a short time - you can find them HERE!!!

The sentiment panel is from the Tiny Words set and has been stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and Old Olive.  I cut the border and centre out with Large Circle Nestabilities and popped the centre up on foam tape.  I gave the butterfly I touch of colour with Copics Y11 and Y21.  To finish off the card I added an ivory bow to the ribbon and topped it with a blue button and silver cord.

FS166 A Mother Is....

Today is the Featured Stamper Challenge at SCS and it is none other than one of the sweetest people --- Pat Smethers!!!!  Such a deserving stamper for this honour!!!  Congratulations Pat - I am so thrilled for you!!!  I chose her Thy Word card to case.  I kept the flower idea, pink theme and Label 4 central panel (I swear the sentiment is on a Label 4!!).  I changed the shape of the card, added a few layers, added the sentiment, different flowers and omitted the ribbon.

I started by cutting out two of the largest Mega Curved Rectangles in white to create the base of this card and then cut another of this side in MME DSP and trimmed the edge.  Next I took the next size down and cut one white and one in another of the MME paper.  Next I stamped the sentiment from ODBD's MOM set in Memento Tuxedo Black and cut it with Label 4 Nestabilities.  Finally I stamped the bough of flowers also from the MOM set in Memento Tuxedo Black and coloured with Copics (YG11, YG63, YG67, RV000, RV10, RV13, Y21, YR23) and then cut each out with scissors and glued them to the top and bottom of the sentiment.

Sewing a Quilt

Today I managed to play in not just one....but THREE challenges!!!  WOOHOO!!!  This happens so very rarely for me, so I'm excited!!!  :)  The first is the JustRite Stampers challenge to make a card with a Sewing Theme; the second is the SCS Free 4 All challenge to Make a Quilt and the Our Creative Corner Challenge to use Bows!!!  (Seriously, how often do I NOT use bows LOL!!!!)  For the JustRite challenge there is a $50 Gift Voucher for the winner and $15 for Honourable Mentions - all you have to do is use your JustRite Stamps and a sewing theme!!!  :)

I started with a base of red bazzill, layered with green bazzill and some white.  Next I took four squares of Cosmo Cricket Material Girl and cut them diagonally to make the quilt pattern.  Through the middle I added some red satin ribbon.  The main panel has been stamped using JustRite's Stitched with Love set.  I coloured the heart with Copics (E00, E02, E11, YG00, YG03, YG06, YR23, R20, R22, R27) and then added a little sponging with Antique Linen and cut it out using large circle nestabilities.  I matted this panel with green and red bazzill cut with two sizes of Blossom Nestabilities and popped the whole panel up on foam tape.  To finish I added a red satin bow to the side three buttons to the corner.  (See that green button, I didn't actually have a button that matched so I coloured a white one with YG03!  :)  )

MMSC48 Happy Mail

Today I was playing around with this image - cutesy little girls and I haven't really gotten along in the past, they always turned out awful!!  My friend Debra encouraged me to have another go a it using some Copics and the X-press It Blending Card, and what do you know, I'm actually quite happy with the way it turned out!  After I coloured it I wondered what I was going to do with it and thought it would work well for this week's Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge.  I decided to use the easier sketch, but then of course couldn't help myself and added a big bow to the side!!!  LOL!!!

I started with a base of River Rock (who else is thrilled SU are bringing this back!!!) and layered with white (pierced around the border) and some retired Ginger Blossom DSP.  I then added two pieces of white satin ribbon for the cross panels.  The image is from Sugar Nellie called Postbox and I've stamped it in Memento Tuxedo Black on X-Press It Blending Card and coloured it with a lot of Copics.  (Top: R20, R22, R27, YG00; Pants: B93, B95, B97; Hair: Y21, YR23, E35, Garden: YG11, YG63, YG67, V000, V12, V15, V17, Y11, Y15; Letterbox: C1, C3, R22, R27, E31, E35, E37)  I cut the image with Label 1 Nestabilities and mounted on some River Rock and White (pierced again) and popped the whole panel up on foam tape.  To finish I added some Kaisercraft Snow Pearls to the corners and a white satin bow topped with a Paper Trey Lemon Tart Button.

Birthday Boy

I made this for my brother who is celebrating his birthday today.  When I saw the new Happy Father's Day set by ODBD I knew this masculine image would be perfect for him!!  I based it on the MTSC67 - then I realised I forgot to add the embellishment to the corner of the feature panel - ooooops!!!

I started with a base of Very Vanilla, layered with Old Olive and some MME Little Boy Blue DSP.  The strip across the middle is more Vanilla punched with the EK Success Dotted Wave punch and then pierced the top.  Through the middle of that I added my MME DSP and the added a piece of natural twill ribbon.  I then stamped the tool box from Happy Father's Day and coloured it with markers and a blender pen, adding a little sponging around the top of the image.  I cut it out with Sm Circle Nesties and matted with Old Olive cut with Lg Circle Nesties and popped up on foam tape.  I finished the front with some silver brads in the top and bottom corners.
I normally don't embellish the insides of my Man Cards - but it is my little brother, so why not?!  :)  I used the same materials as the front of the card and added the sentiment from the new DAD set by ODBD.

Stamps - Happy Father's Day, Dad (ODBD)
Paper - Very Vanilla, Old Olive, MME Little Boy Blue DSP
Ink - Chocolate Chip
Accessories - Lg and Sm Circle Nestabilities, Twill Ribbon, Paper Piercer, Silver Brads, EK Success Dotted Wave Border Punch, Foam Tape.

FS165 Blooming Morning Glory

Hello Everyone and I hope you enjoyed your Easter!  Today I had a chance to play this week's Featured Stamper challenge - the honour going to TheresaCC.  My goodness what an incredible gallery!!!  I chose her A Second Summer card to case. I used a different image and sentiment, different colours and papers but otherwise kept the same feel of the card.

Paper - Lt and Dk Purple, White, Kaisercraft Lilac Avenue DSP
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black, Lovely Lilac

JRC_012 Faith, Hope, Love

Happy Easter Everyone!!!  I hope you are all blessed with a wonderful day!!  Today's card could be reflected on as remembering the love Christ had for us as we celebrate Easter and although that IS true, I did actually make this for another special occasion.  Today, my grandparents who I love very much, celebrate their 68th Wedding Anniversary!!!!  Can you believe that - 68yrs - and they love each other as much today as they did then!!!  Here they are, 68yrs ago.....

I decided to use green as a focal for this colour, mostly because that is my grandfather's favourite colour.  I started with a base of white, layered with green bazzill and more white embossed with Swiss Dots EF.  The next panel is gold layered with some green Memory Box Frond DSP.  In each corner I added some Vintage die cuts and topped with Kaisercraft Chino Pearls.  For my feature panel I used the border from 2" Square Decorative Frames and the sentiment from Loving Thoughts.  I matted this with gold and then another gold square en point.  I then added this to the Fleur de Lis Pendant die cut that was white and covered with Wheat Fields Glimmer Mist.

How did you do??

We can now reveal which card we REALLY made for the Blog Hop!!!  I had the honour of casing the incredibly talented JULIE WARNER!!  Julie has a beautiful style and often stamps her backgrounds and uses rich earthy tones with a love of the Fleur de Lis Pendant dies, so I incorporated these features into my card and loosing based it on THIS card.  The card that was posted on my blog was made by my dear friend CHRIS OLSEN!!!  :)

Stamps - Happy Mother's Day (ODBD)
Paper - Very Vanilla, Really Rust
Ink - Really Rust
Accessories - Fleur de Lis Pendant die, Scissors, Markers, So Saffron Ribbon, Kaisercraft Chino Pearls, Foam Tape.

Hope you enjoyed hopping around!!!

April Fools Day Fun!

For today's New Release at ODBD,  we are not doing a "formal Blog Hop", but the team has all posted a card using the new sets and are linking each other in their posts.  There are no secret words or letters to collect. However, just like in a blog hop, there will be prizes for viewing every DT's blog, leaving comments on all those you can, and returning to the ODBD Blog to tell us you have done so.  Two winners will be randomly chosen from those who do this, and they will each receive a $15.00 Gift Certificate toward stamps from the ODBD Store. (Note: the ODBD Blog can now take anonymous comments so everyone should be able to do this and if anyone cannot make a comment on any designer's blog, just state that in the comment at the end on the ODBD Blog) You have until 8PM USA Eastern on April 2 (10AM AUST EST April 3) to complete these requirements.

Now for the fun part!!!  Today being April Fool's Day, we decided it would be fun to play a little game with the new release sets.  We each cased another DT member and then sent our card to that person to post on their blog today.  So NOPE, I didn't make this card --- the question is, can you figure out where mine is on the hop and who made this one???  The fun part will be seeing how well Kelley really knows her team, because she is being asked to guess who created which card.  She is being asked to make a list of each DT member and write next to their name who she thinks made the card they posted.  It's all just in fun, but if you'd like to play along, we'd love to have you!  You can email your guesses to Grace at: gnywening@yahoo.com up until 8PM USA Eastern on April 2 (10AM April 3 AUST EST).  ONLY ONE email please!  The one or ones (in the case of a tie) who correctly guessed the most will be given recognition on the ODBD Blog when all the entries have been checked.
