Licenced to Drive

Hello Everyone!  I have a fun card for you today!  Recently one of my young co-workers passed her Driver's Test and is now a P Plater!  We were very happy for her - especially since her commute to work has gone from 1 1/2hrs by bus to 1/2hr by car!  Of course a card had to be made to celebrate her achievement....

This card is a mix of so many different companies and it was fun to just grab all sorts of products to make a fun card.  The basics are a base of pink, layered with Baked Brown Sugar (retired - I REALLY want Stampin' Up to bring this back!) and then a white layer cut with Double Stitched Rectangles Dies (ODBD).  Then I've created the background with many pieces of patterned paper, making sure to have a strip of green PP across the bottom.  The fence is cut out of white card using the Woodgrain Fence Die by MFT.  The image is created from two stamp sets by Waltzing Mouse which has closed its doors, however the Half Pint Heroes and Half Pint Heroines are now available through Gina K.  I've stamped this on X-press It Blending Card and coloured with Copics.  The sentiment is from Power Poppy's Dream Wedding set and has been cut out with Pennant Flags by ODBD.  The bunting is created with Pennant Row Alphabet stamps and Pennant Row dies by ODBD.

Stamps - Half Pint Heroes and Half Pint Heroines, Pennant Row Alphabet
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black, Altenew Pinks
Paper - X-press It Blending Card, Pink, Baked Brown Sugar, White, Kaisercraft DP
Accessories - Copics, Dies: ODBD Pennant Flags, Pennant Row, Double Stitched Rectangles; MFT Woodgrain Fence, X-press It Foam Tape

That's all from me today, thanks for popping by and hope you are inspired to stamp!  :)

Herd You Had A Birthday

Hello Everyone!  Today I have a fun card that I actually made from my FIL!  I had been looking at this super cute set called The Whole Herd for months and months, debating with myself - will I use it, do I *really* need it....and then I remembered what my mother told me......You can NEVER have too many stamps!!  So of course when I saw it in stock at The Scrapbook Store, I had to buy it!  Then I saw they had the fence die......and bought that too!!  LOL!!

So I've used a base of black and layered with Old Olive.  I then took a piece of white card, laid the Cow Print Stencil over the top and airbrushed it with Black Copic.  I then used the curved die from Rolling Hills Die-namics to cut the bottom.  Then I took the same die set to cut a piece of white to make the fence and glued it to the top.  I stamped the sentiment from The Whole Herd in Versafine Black across the bottom.  Then came the fun part - I stamped the cow from The Whole Herd several times and cut them out to make masks and set about creating my 'herd' scene.  I've stamped them in Memento Tuxedo Black onto X-press It Blending Card and coloured them with Copics (C3, C5, C7, R000, R00, R02, E40).  I've matted this with black and popped it up on X-press It Foam Tape.  To finish I've added a little piercing across the bottom.

Stamps - The Whole Herd (MFT)
Paper - X-press It Blending Card, Black, White, Old Olive
Ink - Versafine Black, Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories - Copics, Copic Airbrush System, MFT Rolling Hills Die-namics, MFT Cow Print Stencil, Paper Piercer, X-press It Foam Tape

That's all from me today, thanks for popping by and hope today's card gave you a giggle and inspired you to stamp!  :)

From the Herd!

Hello Everyone!  It is birthday season in our family and today's card is going out to my nephew who has such a funny sense of humor and I thought he'd really like this farmyard greeting.  I laughed because we are a family of 5 so now there is debate on who is represented by which animal!  LOL!  Happy Birthday Joey, hope your day is full of FUN!!!

I've used a base of Marina Mist and layered with cream (pierced around the edge).  Next I cut a piece of Old Olive with the Rolling Hills Die and then used the same die set to cut the white fence.  I've glued this over a layer of Chocolate Chip.  Around this I've added a piece of blue gingham ribbon and knotted a piece of twine.  I've created masks for each of the animals from The Whole Herd and stamped and masked each of them in Memento Tuxedo Black onto X-press It Blending Card and coloured with Copics.  I've stamped the sentiment across the bottom and then cut it out with Labels One Nestabilities and popped it up on X-press It High Tack Foam Tape.  To finish I've added a few buttons.

Stamps - The Whole Herd (MFT)
Paper - X-press It Blending Card, Marina Mist, Cream, Chocolate Chip, Old Olive, White
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories - Copics, Spellbinders Labels 1, MFT Rolling Hills Die, Blue Gingham Ribbon, Twine, Buttons, Paper Piercer

That's all from me today, thanks for popping by and hope you are inspired to stamp!

Tickled Pink!

Hello Everyone!!  Can you believe it - its ANOTHER BIRD card for the week!!!  As I said in my last post I'm not really a 'bird' person, but for some reason I can't seem to escape them this week!  LOL!!  Welcome to Bird Week!  :)  This time I was thinking of a friend (Hi Katherine!) who likes a specific type of bird - Flamingos!  I picked up this Flamingos Die and companion stamp set called Tickled Pink by MFT a little while ago but have been too busy to play until now.  It's always fun to play with new toys and I have ideas for other people with these sets too!  I can see more birds in my future!!  :)

I've used a pink base and layered with Chocolate Chip (punched with a border punch), topped with white and some Cherry Blossom DP.  Across this I've added another strip of chocolate topped with more DP that has the sentiment from Tickled Pink across it as well as some brown and pink ribbons.  I've cut white and pink card with Circle and Stately Circle Nestabilities and trimmed the side.  The flamingo is made using MFT's Flamingo Dienamics cutting pink and black card as well as some DP for the wing.  To finish I've added a few rhinestones to the top corner.

Stamps - Tickled Pink (MFT)
Paper - Pink, White, Chocolate Chip, Kaisercraft Cherry Blossom DP
Ink - Versafine Onyx Black
Accessories - MFT Flamingos Dienamics, Circle and Stately Circle Nestabilities, MS Deco Fan Border Punch, Brown and Pink Ribbons, Clear Rhinestones

Teacher Gift Set

Hello Everyone!  Last Friday, my eldest finished Grade 7 which means next year he is off to High School!  Grade 7 has been the final year of Primary School as long as I can remember in Queensland (although my mother tells me in her day Grade 7 was High School - the Education Dept obviously change the rules every generation or so), however this cohort will be the last to finish in Primary School, with the Grade 6 class finishing this week also heading to High School next year.  Such a strange feeling to have a child heading to High School.

Last Friday, the Grade 7's had their Graduation Ceremony which also included 10 Awards Presentation - these being Art, Mandarin, Music, Academic etc....  Finally the last award was announced, the June Hammer Memorial Award - which is given to one boy and one girl and is decided by no less than 20 staff and the winners kept a closely guarded secret by only 2-3 people.  The winners names will be engraved on the Honour Board at the school.  You can't imagine my surprise and gasp as my son's name was announced (I didn't even hear the girl's name I was so stunned - although I saw her go up on stage - Congratulations Ruth).  Needless to say, I shed a couple of tears.  We are so incredibly proud of you Zac - what an amazing young man you are growing up to be!

Now that I have had my Proud Mum moment - onto today's project!  Every year I make journals for the kids to give to their teachers (I do have others but you won't see those for a while due to the stamps I've used on them) - Zac had a male teacher who liked to torture the class with music from the 80's, so he wanted a journal in this theme.  (Not that Zac hates 80's music, he's been learning guitar to some of the songs of that era.)  You can imagine how this got my brain working - how was I going to do 80's theme?  I found some random bright, circular patterned paper deep in my stash which I thought would work, punched the edge with a spiral punch and glued it down.  I've made a black and orange panel for the front, and cut out the teacher's name in yellow and green using Spellbinders Upper Case Font One.  The guitar was cut using MFT's Rock and Roll Die-namics (I can't find it in their store - perhaps it's retired?) in a variety of colours.  Next came the cassette - I found Retro Cassette shape in the Silhouette Online Store and cut all the pieces and glued them together and attached as shown.
The card was made in matching colours, with the added use of the Music M-Bossabilities folder, the sentiment from MFT's A la Mode Rock Star set (also retired - boohoo - I miss the a la modes) which I've secured with a staple.

Stamps - Rock Star (MFT ret)
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper - Daffodil Delight, Kiwi Kiss, Black, Tangerine Tango, Cherry Cobbler, White, Unknown DP from stash
Accessories - MFT Rock and Roll Die-namics, Spellbinders Music M-Bossabilities and Upper Case Font One, Silhouette Retro Cassette Cutting File, Silhouette Machine

Sorry this has been a long post today and thanks for hanging in there until the very end!  I hope whatever craziness is happening in your part of the world, that you remember to enjoy it and celebrate every day!

Rock Star

Hello Everyone!  This is a card I made for my son's birthday last week, I'm only just now getting around to blogging it.  I actually used the My Favorite Things Sketch 162 (MFTWSC162), but of course I'm way to late to enter that challenge!

Anyway, I tried to make it to suit a 12yr old boy and he seemed to like it so I guess it passed!  :)  I've used Kraft, Baked Brown Sugar, Riding Hood Red and Kaisercraft Attitude DP.  The guitar and star diecut are made with MFT Die-namics LLD Accent It - Rock and Roll.  The sentiment is from A La Modes Rock Star and stamped in Tuxedo Black.

Not my usual style but it was fun to do something a bit different for my pre-teen!  :)

Stamps - A La Modes Rock Star (MFT)
Paper - Kraft, Baked Brown Sugar, Riding Hood Red, Tangerine Tango, Daffodil Delight, Kaisercraft Attitude DP

Sunflower Girl

Hello Everyone!!  Today as Splitcoast, the Free 4 All challenge is Winter Flowers!  Not necessarily to have flowers that bloom in Winter, more a bit of colour to cheer those who live in the Northern Hemisphere where the snowy Winter has set in.  Here in Australia however, we are in glorious Summer and thankfully it's not too hot and humid yet!  :)  I look around and see flowers galore, beautiful Frangipani, Poinciana, Agapanthus and still some Jacaranda so it wasn't hard to be inspired for this challenge!  :)

I've used Sunflower Girl and the Prima Donna Petals Die-namics for my flower elements on my card, both by My Favorite Things.  I've stamped my girl in Memento Tuxedo Black onto X-press It Blending Card and coloured her with Copic Markers (R81, R83, R85, E000, E01, E11, E33, E35, YG13, YG17, E50, E51, E53, YR31, R20, Y21, Y35, YR24).  She's been cut out and popped up on foam tape and framed with white (using Large Oval Nestabilities), pink (Dainty Doily Die-namics), and green bazzill (Labels 8 Nestabilities).  For the flower and paper panels, I've used October Afternoon Sidewalks DP and I've finished with a little bling in the corners!  :)

Pink Butterfly

Hello Everyone!!  Things have been crazy at the Jones house of late, not only is the Christmas season upon us, but for Australians, this is also the end of the school year - and with 3 kids, this means I run non-stop for a few weeks with little time for cardmaking.  I hope it settles down when school finishes next Friday!!  This is a card I made for the Hope You Can Cling To challenges at SCS that I realised had not made it to my blog.  This one was hosted by Lydia and was to have a Pink Critter on it!!  Now I don't own a lot of 'critter' stamps, so a butterfly it is!!  :)

I've stamped both the flowers and butterfly in Memento Tuxedo Black onto X-press It Blending Card and coloured with Copics (YR20, YR21, YR23, YR24, G40, G82, R81, R83, R85).  The flowers were cut out with Large Circle Nestabilities and framed with green cut with MFT's Dainty Doily Die.  The butterfly was cut out and offset.  Simply added some ivory ribbon, a bow and notched tag using a sentiment from JustRite's Just Because set.

Stamps - Butterflies and Blossoms (Flourishes), Just Because (JustRite)
Paper - X-press It Blending Card, Green Bazzill, Chocolate chip, MME Sunshine DP

WSC34 Baby Boy

Hello Everyone!!  Today's card is for this week's My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Challenge!  Normally panels on angels freak me out a bit, but I do like this sketch and thought I'd play along - it's been far too long since the last time I joined in.  I needed to make a baby card and this super cute Bundle of Baby a la mode came to live at my place this week and thought it would be perfect to ink up for this sketch!  :)

I started with some dark aqua bazzill, layered with white (pierced), green bazzill and some DCWV Nana's Nursery DP.  I've then added some green satin ribbon down the side.  I've used the Spellbinders Mega Rectangles to cut a piece of DCWV DP and also a piece of white.  The white was embossed with the Stars EF and then matted with green cut with the matching scallop nestie.  The sentiment is from Bundle of Baby by MFT and has been stamped on white and cut with Labels 4 Nestabilities and adhered under the DP panel.  I've stamped the a la mode girl from Bundle of Baby in Memento Tuxedo Black on X-press It Blending Card and coloured it with Copics (E000, E01, B32, B34, B37, G20, G21, Y21, Y35, Y38, YR00, E31, E33, E35, E37).  I've cut her out and popped her up on foam tape.  To finish I've added a bow to the ribbon and a couple of silver pearls to the DP panel.

Happy Birthday Ben!

Hello Everyone!!  Today my little dude turns 6yrs old!!  How time flies!  He's still at that age where he goes running around the house making weird noises like a dinosaur.....on more than one occasion I have called him Benosaurus!!  :)  So, when I had to make a card for his birthday, I chose this super cute image by My Favorite Things called Little Loveosaurus.  :)  Appropriate don't you think??  I tried to follow this week's MFT sketch, but I think it morphed into something else.

Anyway, the base is made of Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive, White (pierced) and three pieces of Kaisercraft Jungle Bug DP.  Around this I've knotted some brown grosgrain ribbon and added a Pumpkin Pie star over the top.  I stamped the image in Memento Tuxedo Black onto X-press It Blending Card and coloured with Copics (G12, G40, G82, G85, G99, E000, E01, E40, Y21), then cut it out and popped it up on foam tape.  Next I stamped the sentiment from the same set and created a notched tag across the bottom and finished with a couple of orange buttons knotted with twine.

Hello Everyone!!!  Today I'm using Birthday Marci by La La Land Crafts.  This is a new company and X-press Graph-x (the Australian Copic Distributor) has become the new, exclusive distributor of these adorable stamps here in Australia!!  They should be available in your local scrapbook stores by the end of March!  You can find more inspiration in the Customer Gallery at La La Land Crafts.

I used Birthday Marci to create a Back to Basics tutorial on how to colour skin on the CopicOz Blog and you can find that post HERE - and by leaving a comment there, you also have the chance to WIN THREE La La Land Crafts stamps!!  Once I'd coloured and cut my image, I decided to create another Side Step Stair Card (they are a lot of fun!!  :)  ) and made the base out of Very Vanilla.  For each panel, I used paper by October Afternoon called Thrift Shop (LOVE this paper!!).  I cut the main panel behind Marci with Large Rectangle Nestabilities and matted with aqua bazzill with the matching scallop rectangle Nestabilities.  For a little detailing, I added a couple of ribbon tags to the side and on the larger 'step', created a banner using MFT's Banner Die.  The sentiment is also from MFT, the Time to Celebrate set.  To finish I added a couple of pink ZVA roses and a couple of small pink rhinestones.

Stamps - Birthday Marci (La La Land), Time to Celebrate (MFT)
Paper - X-press It Blending Card, Very Vanilla, Aqua Bazzill, October Afternoon Thrift Shop DP

Let's Celebrate!!!

This week my BFF celebrated her 40th Birthday (let's call her EDNA), however the party is not until tonight, so I'm scheduling this for when I plan to be walking in the door so she doesn't see it beforehand!  :)  Now I seriously thought about doing and elegant grown up sort of card, I mean we have known each other for more than 20yrs, but I decided against it, 'cause she loves these a la mode stamps by My Favorite Things and she also is really good at doing different shaped/folded cards - so I went down that path instead.  I sure hope she likes it!!!

I created my Side Stair Step card out of Very Vanilla.  Then I stamped my Time to Celebrate a la mode from MFT in Memento Tuxedo Black onto X-press It Blending Card and coloured with Copics (E000, E01, E51, E53, R83, R85, R89, B91, B93, B95, B97, R22, R24, E13, E17, E19, W1, W3).  I used the Mega Long Rectangle Nestabilities to cut and matt it.  I used some Modern Homemaker DP for the horizontal panels ('cause I know she loves this paper too) and created a little rose garden out of the MS Arch Lattice punch and some ZVA roses.  For the sentiment panel I used the JustRite Birthday Celebrations set and coloured with R81, R83, R85, R89 (to match the cake) and cut it out with scissors.  I finished by adding a few pearl swirls.

Stamps - Time to Celebrate (MFT), Birthday Celebrations (JustRite)
Paper - X-press It Blending Card, White, Very Vanilla, Riding Hood Red, October Afternoon Modern Homemaker DP
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories - Copics, Mega Long Rectangle and Mega Long Scalloped Rectangle Nestabilities, MS Arch Lattice Punch, ZVA Roses, ZVA Pearls.

That's all from me today, feel free to hop over to Edna's blog and leave her a little Birthday Love and thanks for visiting!!  :)

Happy Day!!

Hello Everyone!!  Today I was inspired by this month's Fan Club sketch - if you are a member of SCS you can find it HERE.  I also got to play with my new Time to Celebrate stamp set by MFT!  Love these fun a la modes!!  :)

I've stamped my image in Memento Tuxedo Black onto X-press It Blending Card and coloured her with Copics (R24, R29, B91, B93, B95, B97, E000, E01, E51, E53, E31, E33, E35, E41, R83, R85, R89, YR12, C0, C1) and then cut her out with Mega Rectangle Nestabilities, matting with green cut with the matching scallop.  The background paper and paper strips are all from October Afternoon's Modern Homemaker DP.  The flowers have been made using MFT's Mini Rolled Roses Die-namics (that I got for my birthday!!  YAY for new toys!!!!).  Love that it comes in two sizes!!!  Finally I made the notched tag for the sentiment (also from Time to Celebrate) and finished with a button.

Stamps - Time to Celebrate (MFT)
Paper - X-press It Blending Card, Black, Riding Hood Red, Old Olive, October Afternoon Modern Homemaker DP

Birthday Robot

Yesterday was my eldest son's 9th Birthday!  I wonder where the time went!  Here he is growing into a young man and now in grade 4!  He's also getting to that stage where he's too old for 'cutesy' stuff and heaven forbid I should give him a peck on the cheek in PUBLIC!!  :)  So I looked at my stamps and thought what should I give this boy for his card, when I found this robot.....perfect!!  (Even better, when he saw it he said....'that's cool Mum'!)

I used a grey base, green and some Basic Grey Marjolaine DP.  The next panel is more Marjolaine matted with more green and across the bottom, I stamped the sentiment from MFT's Little Loveosaurus in Memento Tuxedo Black.  Across that panel I added two pieces of grey grosgrain ribbon.  The robot is from MFT's Love Machine set, stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and coloured with Copics (C0, C1, C3, C5 - the C0 now comes in the CIAO range!!).  It was cut with the Mega Rectangle Nestabilities and matted with the matching scallop in green.  To finish I added a little hardware in the form of silver brads.

Stamps - Love Machine, Little Loveosaurus (MFT)
Paper - X-press It Blending Card, Grey and Green Bazzill, Basic Grey Marjolaine DP
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories - Copics, Mega Rectangle and Scalloped Mega Rectangle Nestabilities, Grand Calibur, Grey Grosgrain Ribbon, Silver Brads, Foam Tape.
