Beauty in the Spotlight

Hello Everyone!  If you haven't tried the Spotlight technique -- the goal is to make just part of your image POP! For this fun-filled challenge, let's use this technique and 'spotlight' only a portion of your image with color! Link up your Bringing Back Beautiful Challenge creation HERE to enter. If you upload to SCS, please use the keyword BBB11. You have until June 30th to enter! As we unveil our challenge for next month, we’ll share our True Beauties – those card makers who wowed us with this challenge! Winners will be featured on the Flourishes Blog and will receive a True Beauty blog button to display proudly on their blog!
For today's challenge I decide to use Flourishes' Berry Sweet stamp set and stamped it twice in Memento Tuxedo Black onto X-press It Blending Card.  The first one I coloured in cool greys for a black and white effect (C0, C1, C3, C5, C7, 0) and the second one I coloured the part that would become the spotlight in colours (R32, R35, R37, R39, V99, G24, G28, B000, 0).  The spotlight was cut out with Large Circle Nestabilities and matted with black card cut with Small Circle Nestabilities.  The grey image was cut out with Large Oval Nestabilities and matted with red card cut with Labels 18 Nestabilities.  My base was made with red, white and black card and topped with some Bella Rose DP.  The vertical panel is made of black (punched with the MS Iron Gate punch) and topped with more Bella Rose DP and then added some White Crochet Lace.  On both panels of the Bella Rose DP I've done some zigzag sewing around the edges.  The image panel is popped up on foam tape and I finished by adding some Kaisercraft Snow Pearls to the right corners.

Stamps - Berry Sweet (Flourishes)
Paper - X-press It Blending Card, Riding Hood Red, White, Black, SU Bella Rose DP
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories - Copics, Large and Small Circle, Large Oval and Labels 18 Nestabilities, White Crochet Lace, MS Iron Gate Punch, Sewing Machine, Kaisercraft Snow Pearls, Foam Tape.

Hi Kathy. Wonderful spotlight technique. I love that you left the image black and just colored in the pop out piece. That's a double pop! Your colors, stitching and border punching look beautiful!

Kathy, your sample simply rocks! I LOVE that you colored the rest of the image in neutral. That makes the spotlight pop so much more!

Noice choice of stamp for this technique the red really does pop against the grey shades... and thanks for the paper flashback, I was just fondling that red gingham a few days ago!
