SC378 Deep Sorrow

Hello Everyone!  Today I played along with this week's SCS Sketch Challenge.  I really loved this sketch - great design and lots of layers!! ;)  I was also able to play with some new toys and that's ALWAYS fun!!!  :)

I've used a base of aqua card (it's SU, but I have no idea what it's called sorry!), layered with Very Vanilla and another piece of aqua that has been stamped with JustRite's Chevron Stripe Background stamp in Versamark ink.  It's been a while since I've played with versamark, but I like the way it worked for this.  The middle panel is another piece of vanilla - stamped with the roses from With Sympathy in Celadon Versacolor Ink.  Across this is a darker piece of aqua bazzill, punched with Deco Fan and topped with white crochet lace (airbrushed with E53 Copic - because I don't have any ivory lace!).  The feature panel is vanilla stamped with the frame and sentiment from With Sympathy and then coloured with BG72 and BG75 and cut out with Nested Oval Medallion Dies.  I've framed this with dark aqua cut with Lacey Oval Nestabilities and popped it all up with X-press It High Tack Foam Tape.  To finish I've made a flower using vanilla and Bitty Blossoms Shapeabilities (new toy! I can see I'm going to use this A LOT!) and a bit of greenery using Foliage Shapeabilities.

Stamps - Chevron Stripe Background, With Sympathy (JustRite)
Paper - Aqua, Dark Aqua, Very Vanilla
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black, Versamark, Celadon Versacolor
Accessories - Copics, Nested Oval Medallion Dies, Lacey Oval Nestabilities, Bitty Blossoms and Foliage Shapeabilities, May Arts Crochet Lace, MS Deco Fan Punch.

That's all from me today, thanks for visiting and hope you are Inspired to Stamp!!  :)

I Love Pink

Hello Everyone!!!  Today I'm all in PINK!!  I'm sure there are many of you out there who are just as addicted to pink as I am, so I hope you like this one!!  I saw the latest Sketchbook Saturday Sketch #52, which is very CAS for me, but sometimes a sketch just 'speaks' to you and I knew exactly what I wanted to do when I saw this beauty!!
I've used a base of pink bazzill and layered with lighter pink and a piece of white card that has been stamped with JustRite's Stitched Ribbon Background in Memento Angel Pink ink.  Then I've punched two pieces of white card using Deco Fan Punch and adhered a piece of pink Yours Truly DP over the top.  Around this I've attached a piece of white satin ribbon and a piece of pink satin ribbon.  Next I've cut out this luscious pink rose using Spellbinders Spiral Blossom One Die and some greenery using Spellbinders Foliage Die.  The sentiment is from JustRite's Spring Words set (I figured I may as well get a head start on this year's Mother's Day cards!) and stamped direct onto the background in Tuxedo Black and finished by adding a few Kaisercraft Rose Pearls to the bottom.

Stamps - Spring Words, Stitched Ribbon Background (JustRite)
Paper - Pink and Light Pink Bazzill, White, Yours Truly DP

ODBD's 4th Anniversary Release Hop

Welcome to the Our Daily Bread designs 4th Anniversary Special Design Team Edition  Release Blog Hop!  If you've arrived here via Sandee's Blog, then you are in the right place, if not, you may want to start back at the ODBD Blog so that you don't miss anyone!!!  :)  If any links are broken along the way you can just check the list of links from the ODBD blog.

The bread sticks are so excited to be celebrating this special milestone in the life of ODBD!  It is such a blessing to work for a company that brings glory to God in every stamp set created, and offers us the tools we need to do the same with every card we create!  If you are a long term follower of ODBD, then you know that each year, the Design Team submits a favorite Scripture for the special anniversary sets, and those suggestions have been the sum total of all the "Scripture Collection" stamp sets in the store.  This year, the special sets include our favorite Scriptures, but also quotes and sentiments that we feel would be great on cards or  projects.  I think you will find some of the most encouraging and uplifting words available in stamps in these special anniversary sets!

So now, here are the Details of the Anniversary Hop:

  • The Hop will run 8am US EDT Mar. 17 until 8pm US EDT Mar 18.
  • The winners will be announced on the ODBD Blog on Mar 19.
  • Four  hoppers will win a FREE ANNIVERSARY SET and One blessed hopper will win The Complete Anniversary  Bread Basket Bundle!!!
Here is what you have to do to be qualified to win one of these prizes:
  • Hop to each designer’s blog and leave a comment
  • Return to the Our Daily Bread designs blog and leave a comment telling us that you completed the hop, making note if there were any you could not comment on.
  • Along with your statement that you completed the hop, leave some Anniversary wishes for Kelley and the gang at ODBD!
The sentiment I chose for this year's Sentiment Collection is a special one for me.  Throughout my life my Mother has said this to me in various forms and these are the words she's says to me today.  Whenever things are tough, or I'm sad or struggling with things, these are the words she says to me.  It reminds me that no matter how bad things seem, I have things to be thankful for and someone (or actually many people) who loves me.  So Mum, this one is for you.....I love you!!!

My card is easy to make, a base of pink, topped with chocolate and white and some Memory Box Gossamer DP.  Then a strip of chocolate (punched) and topped with more Gossamer, crochet lace and satin ribbon.  I've cut a lacey circle out of white, topped with pink cut with Small Circle Nesties and glued down.  Next I've added a ZVA Flourish.  The Sentiment is stamped in pink and cut with Large Circle Nesties, matted with pink (cut with Small Circle Nesties) and white (cut with Lacey Circle Nesties) and popped up on foam tape.  To finish I've added a bow, silver cord, pink heart button and a double heart charm.

Stamps - Sentiment Collection
Paper - White, Pink Bazzill, Chocolate Chip, Memory Box Gossamer DP
Ink - Pink
Accessories - Lacey Circle, Small and Large Classic Circle Nestabilities, White Crochet Lace, Pink Satin Ribbon, Bow Easy, Pink Heart Button, Double Heart Charm, Silver Cord, ZVA Pearl Flourish, SU Scallop Punch, Foam Tape.

Next on the hop is the totally sweet and incredibly talented CHRIS!!!

That's all from me today, thanks for visiting and enjoy the hop!!!

Cupcake Anyone??

Hello Everyone!!!  For today's project, I was playing around with JustRite's Classic Scallop Borders and ended up creating a fun popstick to decorate a cupcake!  :)  I had made some Caramel Mud Cake Heart shaped cupcakes and thought this popstick would be perfect for a little decoration!!!  ;)

This idea came about while I was stamping the Classic Scallop Borders.  I stamped two in a line so it was a long strip and then cut them out.  Once the strip was cut, it was scored at each of the top points of the scallop and then folded mountain/valley.  I repeated this to make two strips and then adhered them together to make a rosette.  The butterfly image is from Botanical Butterflies and has been stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black onto X-press It Blending Card and coloured with Copics (B000, YR12, YR16, YR18).  This was cut out with Lacey Circle Nestabilites and glued to the front of the rosette.  For the back, I've cut a circle, glued the popstick to it and then glued it to the back of the rosette.
Stamps - Classic Scallop Borders, Botanical Butterflies (JustRite)
Paper - X-press It Blending Card
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black, Versacolor Atlantic
Accessories - Copics, Lacey Circle Nestabilities, Popstick

Keep Calm and Buy Shoes

Hello Everyone!  Today the JustRite team are showcasing some of the Background stamps from the Cling range and I've chosen Vintage Wallpaper!  This was one of the first Background stamps that came out and is soooooo elegant (and you may notice that the print matches our Catalogue print too!  ;)  .)

I've started with a base of Very Vanilla, layered with Old Olive and more Vanilla.  The layer of Vanilla has been stamped with Vintage Wallpaper in Memento Desert Sand.  Next I've added a strip of Olive, a piece of ribbon and then a piece of Fawn Bazzill (punched on one side) that has also been stamped with Vintage Wallpaper - but on the darker paper it doesn't show as strongly.  My feature panel has been stamped using Just Keep Calm in Memento Bamboo Leaves and Rich Cocoa (for the sentiment).  It was then cut out using Nested Medallion Label Dies and framed with Old Olive cut with Lacey Squares and all popped up on foam tape.  To finish I've added a Prima flower, some branches cut with Foliage Shapeabilities and a few pearls.
Stamps - Vintage Wallpaper, Just Keep Calm (JustRite)
Paper - Very Vanilla, Old Olive, Fawn Bazzill
Ink - Memento Bamboo Leaves, Rich Cocoa, Desert Sand
Accessories - JustRite Nested Medallion Dies, Lacey Squares Nestabilites, Foliage Shapeabilies, Fiskars Threading Water Punch, Prima Flower, Kaisercraft Pearls, Foam Tape.

Butterfly Garden

Hello Everyone!!  Today's card is one that I was lucky enough to have published in Cardmaking, Stamping and Papercraft in December (Vol 17 No 12) as part of a trio of cards!  Since it is now March, I figured it would be OK to finally put it on my blog!  :)

I loved this set when it came out!  What could be prettier than a butterfly in a garden of flowers!  The base is constructed of Regal Rose, White, Kiwi Kiss and MME Hazel DP.  The middle panel is white (punched with Woodland Branch) and topped with more Hazel DP.  Across these layers I've added some white organdy ribbon, pink satin ribbon and honeydew twine.  I stamped the butterfly centre from Butterfly Garden in Memento Tuxedo Black onto X-press It Blending Card and coloured with Copic Markers (BG0000, BG11, BG72, Y21, Y35, V01, V15, YG13, YG17, R81, R83, R85, YR21, YR24, E29, 0).
Next I stamped the border in Memento Rose Bud and cut it out into a ring using Large Circle Nestabilities and popped it up on X-press It Foam Tape.  I matted this panel with Regal Rose cut with the matching scallop circle nestabilities.  Finally I added a pearl flourish to the side, a pink bow topped with button and twine and white pearls to the corners.

Stamps - Butterfly Garden (JustRite)
Paper - X-press It Blending Card, Regal Rose, White, Kiwi Kiss, MME Hazel DP
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black, Memento Rose Bud
Accessories - Copics, Lg Circle and Scallop Circle Nestabilities, White Organdy Ribbon, Pink Satin Ribbon, Bow Easy, Honeydew Twine, White Button, ZVA Pearl Flourish, MS Woodland Branch Punch, Kaisercraft Snow Pearls, X-press It Foam Tape.

The Beauty of Spring or Autumn

Hello Everyone!!!  It's the first Monday of the month, so that means it's Bring Back Beautiful challenge time again!!!  This month gives you an option!!  March in the Northern Hemisphere is the seasonal equivalent of September in the Southern Hemisphere. In the Northern Hemisphere, the beginning of the meteorological spring is March. In the Southern hemisphere, the beginning of the meteorological autumn is March. So this month we are asking you to create a project based on either Spring or Autumn.

Link up your Bringing Back Beautiful Challenge creations HERE to enter. If you upload to SCS, please use the keyword BBB20. You have until March 31st to enter! As we unveil our challenge for next month, we’ll share our True Beauties – those card makers who wowed us with this challenge! Winners will be featured on the Flourishes Blog and will receive a True Beauty blog button to display proudly on their blog!

Here in Australia it is the beginning of Autumn - however Australia is a very large country and I live in a tropical climate where the seasons don't really change much.  The trees are green all year round, it doesn't snow and in the Summer it can be incredibly hot when we aren't having downpours of rain from the monsoon!!  I am not a gardener, so thanks to my Mum's gardening friend, Sue, I found out that these are some the flowers that bloom in our Autumn - Roses, Calla Lilies, Chrysanthemums, Morning Glories, Daisies, Nasturtiums, Irises, Zinnias, Hollyhocks.  With this insight, I decided to use Zinnias for my card today!!  :)

I've used a base of Aqua bazzill and layered with white (pierced), yellow bazzill and some Sidewalks DP.  The vertical panel is white punched with the Deco Fan punch and topped with more Sidewalks DP.  The Zinnias have been stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black onto X-press It Blending Card and coloured with Copics (Y21, Y35, Y38, YG11, YG13, YG17, B21, B23, B26, C1, C3, 0).  It's been cut out with Large Circle Nestabilities and matted with the coordinating Lacey Circles.  The sentiment is also from Zinnias and has been cut out with Ribbon Tags Trio and attached with some aqua looped ribbon.  To finish I've added a few yellow pearls to the top corner.

Stamps - Zinnias (Flourishes)
Paper - X-press It Blending Card, Aqua and Yellow Bazzill, White, October Afternoon Sidewalks DP
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories - Copics, Large Circle and Lacey Circle Nestabilities, Ribbon Tag Trio Shapeabilities, Aqua Looped Ribbon, Martha Stewart Deco Fan Punch, Paper Piercer, Mat Pack, Kaisercraft Yellow Pearls.

That's all from me, don't miss the *Beautiful* creations the girls have for you today.....

Thanks for visiting and hope you play along and be inspired by the season in your part of the world!!!
