Fan Fold Asian

If you stopped by the JustRite Font Hop last week, you would have seen that I made a 50th Birthday card for Kay. Well, I also had someone else ask for a card for the same lady and this is what I came up with. I decided to use the Fan Fold Flower Technique to also give this card an Asian feel. I am still away as you are reading this, but should be back in a couple of days! :)

I started with a base of red bazzill and layered with white and some Ginger Blossom DSP. The sentiment panel is more red, layered with white and stamped the personal greeting in Jet Black Stazon using the Times New Roman Font by JustRite. I also stamped the flower images from Artfully Asian in River Rock and coloured lightly with markers and a blender pen. I followed the tutorial to make the flower, using paper from Ginger Blossom and stamping the '50' using the same Times New Roman Font and the border from Tiny Words Set. I finished off with some black satin ribbon and some black pearls.

Stamps - Times New Roman Font (JustRite), Tiny Words Set (JustRite), Artfully Asian (SU)

Paper - Red, White, Ginger Blossom DSP

Ink - Jet Black Stazon

Accessories - Markers, blender pen, scallop punch, scallop circle nestabilities, black satin ribbon, Kaisercraft black pearls.

That's all for today, thank for visiting!!! :)

MTSC40 Flower for Silke..

Hello everyone! As you read this I have taken my kids out of town to see their grandparents, great-grandparents, cousins, uncle and aunt. It's the first time we've seen them all since Christmas, so I'm sure we'll have a wonderful time catching up!

Today's card was inspired by Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge 40 and the Flourished Timeless Tuesday Challenge 34. The Flourishes challenge is being hosted by my rockin friend Silke this week, so of course I had to give it a go!!! The challenge was to use misting on your image. Now I have never done this before, but I think it turned out OK?!

I started with a base of Very Vanilla and layered with Not Quite Navy (pierced all around the edge - I don't think you can see it very well) and some Bella Bleu DSP that my wonderful friend Pam sent me! The next layer is more Not Quite Navy that I've punched top and bottom with the Fiskars Lace Border Punch and then added three panels of Very Vanilla that were embossed using the Swiss Dots DF. On the main panel I've used the Penny Black 'Blush' Stamp, coloured with Not Quite Navy marker and then misted with water and then stamped onto Very Vanilla card and cut out with Label 4 Nestabilities. I then used a blender and Creamy Caramel to add a very light edge around the embossed section and also stamped the sentiment from Short and Sweet in Creamy Caramel. I popped this panel up on foam tape and finished off by adding some light cream satin ribbon and a couple of Kaisercraft Latte Pearls.

Stamps - Blush (Penny Black), Short and Sweet (SU)
Paper - Very Vanilla, Not Quite Navy, Bella Bleu DSP
Ink - Not Quite Navy (marker)
Accessories - Label 4 Nestabilities, Fiskars Lace Border Punch, Swiss Dots EF, Blender Pen, Markers, Light Cream Satin Ribbon, Kaisercraft Latte Pearls, Foam Tape, Water Mister, Paper Piercer and Mat Pack.

Well that's all for today, thanks for visiting!!! :)

C4C3 Butterflies for You

Today's card has been made for this week's Crazy 4 Challenges sketch challenge. I also kind of qualifies for Danni's Flutterby Wednesday challenge to use a butterfly or fairy and some sparkle. Now I know it doesn't look like it in the photo, but there is sparkle on that butterfly! :) This was actually a nice, quick card to make (after I took a little detour! *rolls eyes*).

I started with a base of Really Rust and layered with black and some yummy Graphic45 DSP - Baby 2 Bride Collection. Then the vertical strip is more black layered with more Graphic45, this time from the Botanicabella collection. I then stamped a different image, coloured it in and then realised that it was WAY too big for the panel I wanted to use and then started all over again! LOL! Then I stamped this flower image from SU's Friends 24-7 set and coloured it with markers (pumpkin pie and old olive). I cut it out using the Mega Curved Rectangles die set and then lightly sponged the edges while still in the die in So Saffron. The sentiment is from SU's Best Yet set and stamped in Jet Black Stazon. I then added a pumpkin pie Royal Butterfly punch that has been well sprayed with Wheatfields Glimmermist and finished off by adding some Kaisercraft Black Pearls to the body and under the sentiment and popped the entire white panel up on foam tape.

Stamps - Friends 24-7, Best Yet (both SU)
Paper - Really Rust, Black, Graphic45, White
Ink - Jet Black Stazon
Accessories - Martha Stewart Royal Butterfly Punch, Kaisercraft Black Pearls, Mega Curved Rectangle Nestabilities, foam tape.

That's all for today, thanks for visiting!!! :)

MTSC39 Thank You Mrs K!!!

Today's card has been made for my son's teacher who is leaving to go on Maternity Leave. (It is the end of 3rd Term for us in Australia and he will have a substitute teacher for the final term.) Normally I make thank you cards at the end of the school year - this one is just a little early. She is expecting her baby boy in 6wks time and we wish her all the best and our prayers will be with her! (Oh - and yes, I did spell her name correctly!! :) ) I was inspired by Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge this week - what a fab sketch!!!

I started with a white base, layered with Kiwi Kiss, Riding Hood Red and some Bella Rose DSP. The vertical panel is more RHR with both sides punched with the Martha Stewart Arch Lattice Punch and layered with more Bella Rose. The main panel has been stamped using JustRite Stampers 2" Center and Font Set - using the flower centre and creating a personal good-bye message for my son's teacher. It was all stamped in Jet Black Stazon, coloured with markers and cut out with Circle Nestabilities and mounted on RHR cut with Blossom Nestabilties. I finished off by adding some Kaisercraft Snow pearls to both the vertical panel and each side of the sentiment panel and using a 1" White Satin Ribbon across the bottom, creating the bow using my Bow Easy (I LOVE this tool!!! :) ).

Stamps - JustRite 2" Centre and Font Set

Paper - White, Kiwi Kiss, Riding Hood Red, Bella Rose DSP
Ink - Jet Black Stazon
Accessories - Markers, Blender Pen, Large Circle Nestabilities, Blossom Nestabilities, Martha Stewart Arch Lattice Border Punch, Kaisercraft Snow Pearls, 1" White Satin Ribbon, Foam Tape.

That's all for today, thanks for visiting!!! :)

CPS134 Old Fashioned Christmas

Hello again everyone!!! Today I decided to do the CPS Sketch Challenge and thought this sketch would be perfect for a Christmas card. Yes I know it doesn't snow in Australia at Christmas (or actually never where I live but I digress...) but those circle things on the corners were just asking for snowflakes don't you think?? :)

I started with a base of red bazzill, layered with white and then some Cosmo Cricket Jolly by Golly DSP. On the white layer I've double pierced it all the way around (and yes, my hand did hurt by the end!). The centre has been cut out of some shimmery white card using the Renaissance Hearts Pendant die and in the centre I've stamped the image from the Old Fashioned Christmas Set by JustRite. I stamped the image in Jet Black Stazon and coloured with markers and along the metal parts of the sleigh I've painted it with some Angel Wings Shimmerz that my wonderful friend Michelle sent me!!! I then popped the whole panel up on foam tape. For the circles on each corner I punched out 6 Martha Stewart Arctic Snowflakes in white and painted them with Shimmerz as well. (While doing this it occured to me that I really could have used the shimmery white card.....but that wouldn't have been as much fun would it??) I popped the centre snowflake up on a pop dot for dimension. Then I looked at it and decided something was missing, so I added a couple of Kaisercraft snow pearls to the other two corners and a small one to each of the pendant points.

Stamps - Old Fashioned Christmas Set (JustRite)

Paper - Red, White, Shimmery White Card, Cosmo Cricket Jolly by Golly DSP

Ink - Jet Black Stazon

Accessories - Renaissance Hearts Pendant die, Martha Stewart Arctic Snowflake Punch, Angel Wings Shimmerz, Markers, Blender Pen, Kaisercraft Snow Pearls, Foam Tape, Paper Piercer, Mat Pack.

That's all for now, thanks for visiting!!!! :)

C4C2 Masculine 18th...

Today's card is one I made for last week's Crazy 4 Challenges Sketch Challenge. It's been a busy week and this is the first chance I've had to join in. This card is going to a boy celebrating his 18th birthday who loves to play the drums. I've tried to keep it bold and masculine.
I started with a base of black bazzill, layered with white and red - which I pierced around the edge and then added four squares of Ebony and Ivory Kaisercraft DSP. The main panel has been stamped in Real Red using the JustRite 2" Center and Font Set to create a personalised greeting around the border. I then stamped the drums from Inkadinkado's Rock Star Set in Jet Black Stazon in the centre. I cut it out using the Large Circle Nestabilities and layered it on a piece of red cut using the Label 3 Nestabilities and popped the whole panel up. I finished off by piercing around the circle and adding some silver brads to the four corners of the card.
Stamps - 2" Center and Font Set (JustRite), Rock Star (Inkadinkado)
Paper - Black, White, Red Bazzill, Kasiercraft Ebony and Ivory DSP
Ink - Jet Black Stazon, Real Red
Accessories - Large Circle Nestabilities, Label 3 Nestabilities, paper piercer, mat pack, foam tape.
That's all for now, thanks for visiting!!! :)

Popped on top of that are two white Label 5 die cuts that have been embossed. Crazy 4 Christmas...

This week at SCS, the product focus is JustRite Stampers!!! Don't forget to read about it in today's Weekly Inkling and find the tutorial on the Resources Page!! Today we are looking at the Holiday Demi Phrases, 2" Centre and Font Set and Merry Little Christmas Set. I've used all three to create this special, personalised Christmas card. Christmas will be here before we know it, so I'm starting cards now!! :) I was inspired by the brand new challenge blog - Crazy 4 Challenges - who posted this fabulous sketch for us to use!

I started with a base of white, layered with gold and then some Basic Grey Wassail paper. The next panel is more gold and more Wassail and tied with a piece of 1 inch golden brown satin ribbon with the bow done with a Bow Easy. The main panel is two peices of white cut using the Fleur de Lis Pendant die and then offset. The image panel is made using the candles from the Merry Little Christmas Set, the top sentiment is from the Holiday Demi Phrases and the bottom sentiment has been made using the 2 inch Center and Font Set. I stamped it all in Close to Cocoa ink, coloured with markers and cut out with Lg Circle Nestabilities and matted with a piece of gold and then all popped up on top of the Pendant panel. Finished off by adding some Kaisercraft Chino pearls to the base of each of the peaks.

Ruby Anniversary...

Hello everyone!!! Have you noticed that the next JustRite Blog Hop is on next week!!! If you thought the last one was huge - this one is so big it lasts two days - the 17th and 18th September!!! We have lots of people joining us and this time it's all about FONT - you won't want to miss it!! :)

Today's card has been made using JustRite's Upper Case and Lower Case Trompe Font. When I first discovered JustRite, it was the ability to personalise that really attracted me. I love to be able to make a card or gift for someone that has their name or special occasion on it. As you can see, this card has both!! :)

I started with a base of red bazzill (considering it is the Ruby Anniversary!), layered with silver and a piece of white that has been embossed with 'Textile' EF. Next I used the Classic Frame set by Spellbinders to cut another piece of red. Over the top of that is some 1 1/2 inch silver ribbon and a piece of white cut using the Label 4 die set. On this piece I stamped '40th Anniversary' in Jet Black Stazon using the Upper and Lower Case Trompe Font and the Horizontal Rectangle Stamper. Using the smaller font I stamped the names on a piece of white and cut them into notched panels, lightly sponging the edges and attaching them under the stamped rose image. I finished off by adding some Snow Kaisercraft pearls to the frame.

Stamps - Trompe Font - Upper and Lower (JustRite), A Rose is a Rose

Paper - Red bazzill, silver, white

Ink - Jet Black Stazon, Real Red, Versacolor (leaves)

Accessories - Classic Frame die set (Spellbinders), Label 4 Nestabilties, Snow Kaisercraft Pearls, 1 1/2 inch silver satin ribbon, Textile EF, scissors.

Happy Birthday Fella!!!

Today is my Grandfather's 91st Birthday!!! He has always been 'Fella' to me - apparently it came about as a speech error when I was little and it stuck! :) I feel very blessed to have such a wonderful man for a grandfather who has always been a big part of my life.

I started with and Old Olive base (Fella LOVES green!!), layered with Chocolate Chip, White and a piece of Windsor Knot DSP. I then added a strip of striped Windsor Knot to the side and knotted some Certainly Celery twill (that my Bestie Pam124 sent me) around it. Underneath the knot I tucked a piece of white that has the sentiment from Warmest Regards (retired) in Old Olive and sponged with a bit of Close to Cocoa. (Don't faint Linda - I actually sponged!!! LOL!!) The main panel image is from For Father and stamped in Jet Black Stazon and coloured with markers. It's been cut out with the Lg Circle Nestabilities and mounted on a piece of Baja Breeze cut with the Label 3 Nestabilities. I've pierce around the circle and popped the whole panel up on foam tape.

Paper - Old Olive, Chocolate Chip, White, Baja Breeze, Windsor Knot DSP

FS135 - Birthday Blessings

Today is Father's Day and my DH took our boys out while I stayed home with our sleeping toddler girl - so I thought I'd have a look at the FS challenge. This week the honour goes to Lori McAree!!! Congrats Lori and enjoy your week!!! As soon as I saw THIS CARD I knew exactly what I wanted to do and it all came together pretty much as I imagined - don't you LOVE it when that happens??!! :) I've just realised this qualifies for this week's Flutterby Wednesday challenge to make a Birthday card with a butterfly or fairy!!! :) I was also REALLY happy to make something other than a Man Card!! :)

I started with a base of white and layered with some deep pink bazzil and some Basic Grey Urban Prairie paper. The main panel is from Our Daily Bread Designs' Happy Birthday set, stamped in Jet Black Stazon and coloured with markers and a blender pen. It was then cut out with Large Circle Nestabilities and mounted on a piece of white cut with the new Lattice Pendant by Spellbinders. The sentiment is from the same set, stamped in Stazon and cut with the Ribbon Tags Trio die set. The butterfly is from the same set, coloured with markers, cut and popped up on the sentiment panel. Then I put some white satin half inch ribbon through the die cut and attached it on top of some 1 inch deep pink satin ribbon at the bottom of the card. And, because I couldn't help myself, I finished by adding some Snow Kaisercraft pearls to the top corners!! :)

Stamps - Happy Birthday (ODBD)

Paper - White, Deep Pink Bazzill, Basic Grey Urban Prairie DSP

SC244 Thanks Friend...

Thank goodness it's the week-end! I am truly ready for it this week - how about all of you??? :) I have finally gotten around to playing this week's SCS sketch challenge. I tried, I really did, to make this a horizontal card like the sketch, but it just wouldn't work - so here you have it, my vertical take on the sketch!

I started with a base of white, layered with Kiwi Kiss (pierced) and Pink Pirouette (embossed with Swiss Dots). The next panel is white layered with some Bella Rose DSP and tied with some white half inch satin ribbon. The bow was made with my Bow Easy!!! The main panel has been cut using the brand new Label 8 Nestabilities in Kiwi Kiss and then layered using the Lg Petite Ovals in white. On the wite layer I stamped the flower from SU's Friends 24-7 in Jet Black Stazon and coloured with Old Olive and Pretty in Pink and a blender pen and then pierced around the oval with my paper piercer and mat pack. The sentiment is from SU's Three Little Words and then I added a Martha Stewart punched Royal Butterfly in Pink Pirouette (YES Aussies - you can now buy these here at Spotlight!!! WOOHOO!!!). I finished off by adding some Snow Kaisercraft Pearls to the butterfly body and a couple to the corners of the Label.

Stamps - Friends 24-7, Three Little Words (SU)

Paper - White, Kiwi Kiss, Pink Pirouette, Bella Rose DSP

Ink - Jet Black Stazon, Old Olive, Pretty in Pink

Accessories - Label 8 Nestabilities, Lg Petite Oval Nestabilities, Martha Stewart Royal Butterfly punch, Snow Kaisercraft pearls, 1/2 inch white satin ribbon, bow easy, Swiss Dots EF, paper piercer and mat pack.

Another Father's Day Card...

It's yet another Father's Day card today. Here in Australia we celebrate Father's Day on the first Sunday in September - which is coming up fast and I STILL have one more to make!! Yikes!!! This one is going to my Dad along with a gift card to the local auto store! :)
I started with a base of white, layered with red, another piece of white and then a strip of SU's retired Ginger Blossom DSP. On the white panel I stamped the flourish from SU's Friends 24-7 in Real Red that I stamped off once. The middle panel is a piece of red bazzill cut using the Deckled Rectangle Nestabilities and layered with a piece of white that has been embossed using the Tiny Mosaic EF. I decided to make the ute (or truck if you prefer) red because Dad has a red ute!! :) I actually stamped the truck from the Artful Inkables set Into the Moonlight - which is actually meant to be Bella's truck from Twilight.....shhhhhhh.....he'll never know!!! :) I then coloured it in with Real Red and an Aqua Painter, black marker and blender and a bit of Angel Wings Shimmerz (that my wonderful friend Michelle sent me!) and a touch of Dimensional Magic on the glass windows. The truck was then cut out and popped up on foam tape. For the sentiment, I grabbed JustRite's Favorite Occasions Borders and Centers Set and stamped the Father's Day centre and border in Close to Cocoa ink. I thought this cup image would be great with the car theme!! I also painted the cup with a touch of Angel Wings Shimmerz to make it shiny!! :) I finished off with some chocolate grosgrain ribbon and some copper brads in the corners.
Stamps - Friends 24-7 (SU), Favorite Occasions Borders and Centers (JustRite), Into the Moonlight (Artful Inkables)
Paper - White, Red Bazzill, Ginger Blossom DSP
Ink - Real Red, Close to Cocoa
Accessories - Rectangle Nestabilities, Deckled Rectangle Nestabilities, Tiny Mosaic EF, Copper Brads, Paper Piercer and mat pack, Chocolate Grosgrain Ribbon, Small and Large Circle Nestabilities, foam tape.
That's all for now - I'm looking forward to making something pretty with pearls soon - I'm going into withdrawal!! Thanks for visiting!!! :)
