Touch of Paradise

Hello Everyone!!  Today I'm playing with the July release stamps and dies from Our Daily Bread Designs and this month it was all about summery tropicals!  A lot of people think of the dry outback when they think of Australia, but I live in the sub-tropical coastal area and around here you will find Bird of Paradise plants a lot!  So when I saw the latest release, well of course I had to pick that one, but it was a hard choice let me tell you!  I was also thrilled to see that there was a selection of tropical themed dies for Frangipani (I have one of those in my back yard!), Hibiscus (every colour of the rainbow around here!) and a beautiful selection of leaves and ferns!  Looooooovely!!!

I've used Aloha for the bird of paradise image and the sentiment and accented with leaves from Frangipani Dies and a leaf shape from Tropical Leaves Dies.  Excitingly, the image has a matching Bird of Paradise Die

I've used a base of peach card and layered with spotted Boho Bolds paper and then layered with the matching solids from Boho Bolds and topped with white card cut the Lattice Background Die.  Across this I've attached some white and golden yellow ribbon.  The feature panel is white cut with Pierced Circles Dies and I've airbrushed it with yellow and orange Copics while still in the die.  I've stamped the Bird of Paradise image from Aloha twice onto X-press It Blending Card and coloured with Copics and then die cut with the matching Bird of Paradise Die.  To make it look a little more like a bird of paradise plant, I've surrounded these with green leaves cut with Frangipani Dies and Tropical Leaves Dies and airbrushed these with a darker green Copic marker.  To finish I've stamped the sentiment from the Aloha and die cut it with Pennant Flags Dies.

Stamps - Aloha (ODBD)
Paper - X-press It Blending Card, Peekaboo Peach, White, ODBD Boho Bolds Paper Pad
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories - ODBD Dies: Bird of Paradise, Frangipani, Tropical Leaves, Pennant Flags, Pierced Circles, Lattice Background; White and Golden Yellow Ribbon, X-press It Foam Tape

For my second card I've used a base of kraft card, trimming the corners.  Across the top I've added a piece of purple solid paper and spotty green paper from Boho Bolds.  Around this I've added white and purple ribbons.  I've stamped the image from Aloha, coloured withe Copics and cut it out with the matching Bird of Paradise Die.  I've added a die cut leaf using Tropical Leaves (also Copic airbrushed) so it didn't look quite to bare.  I've then stamped the sentiment from Aloha direct to the card face and accented with some enamel dots.  To finish I've added a purple bow and green button.

Stamps - Aloha (ODBD)
Paper - X-press It Blending Card, Kraft, ODBD Boho Bolds Paper Pad
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories - ODBD Dies: Bird of Paradise, Tropical Leaves; White and Purple Ribbons, Bow Easy, Button, Enamel Dots, Twine

July Power & Spark!

Hello Everyone!!  It's the first Friday of a new month and that means it's time for a brand new Power Poppy Power and Spark Challenge!!  This month our lovely hostess is Ally and she's challenged you all to.....Copy a Bloomie!

What does that mean??  Find a card or project made by any member of the Power Poppy Bloom Brigade (look to the right side of my blog and under the Bloom Brigade pic for the list of names), and do your own take on it!  Easy right?!  AND - don't forget there is a $50 Shopping Spree to WIN!!  Find all the details on the Power Poppy Blog!

I chose TOSHA's beautiful card found HERE to copy!  I've used the same layout (different dies though still round) and her idea for seam binding (not something I use very often) and switched out the sequins for buttons.  I've used a very different colour palette because it's a cold, wet Winter day here in Australia and I felt like using some warmer hues to pretend it's a little warmer!!

I've used a base of cream and layered with apricot card and some Wild Rose Studio DP.  The panel is more cream and more Wild Rose Studio DP.  Around this I've added the seam binding and topped with a wooden heart button.  I've printed the DIGI image, Sunset Sway onto X-press It Blending Card and coloured with Copic Markers.  I've cut this out with Pierced Circle Dies and while in the die, I've sponged some ink around the edges.  I've matted this with cream card cut with Stately Circles Dies and popped it up on foam tape.  To finish I've added some round wooden and brown buttons.

Stamps - Sunset Sway (Power Poppy)
Ink - Printer
Paper - X-press It Blending Card, Cream, Apricot, Wild Rose Studio Meadow Harvest DP
Accessories - Copics, ODBD Pierced Circles Dies, Spellbinders Stately Circles, Seam Binding, Buttons, X-press It Foam Tape

Don't miss all today's gorgeous creations, by checking out the POWER POPPY BLOG!

ALSO ~ a heads up about the delay in shipping of stamps and dies and excitingly there is 20% off DIGIS!!  Don't forget to use the code VACATIONDIGIS at the checkout!!

That's all from me today, hope you play along this month, thanks for visiting and hope you are inspired to stamp!!  :)
