Christmas Cardinal

Hello Everyone!!!  My goodness I've been busy lately - what about you??  I'm going to be teaching the Brisbane Copic Certification class on Monday and have been busy preparing all the things I'm going to take!!  I also have a tutorial on the CopicOz Blog today showing how to colour blue skies, I'd be really thrilled if you stopped by there!  I've used this cute Cardinal stamp for the tutorial using the airbrush and figured I may as well turn it into a card!!  :)  Today I was able to play along with Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge!  YAY!!  I love Mercy's sketches and this one is a beauty!!

I actually started by stamping the Cardinal from JustRite's Backyard Birds set in Memento Tuxedo Black onto X-press It Blending Card and then airbrushed the sky with B000 and then coloured the rest of the image with Copics (E29, E33, E35, E37, G24, G28, R22, R24, R29, Y21, Y35, 0).  Next I was inspired by Mercy's Sketch to follow and created a base of Always Artichoke and layered with Very Vanilla.  The vanilla was embossed with the Snowflakes EF and lighted sponged with Antique Linen.  The next layer is some yummy Echo Park Merry Christmas paper.  On top of that is a piece of Riding Hood Red that I've punched across the bottom with the MS Loop punch.  The vertical panel is yet more of this beautiful Echo Park DP!  Now Mercy's sketch called for a square, but I'd already cut my Cardinal with a circle, so I've added a scallop layer and popped it up over a Label 1 Very Vanilla panel that I've embossed and run my E51 marker around the edge for a little definition!  Now I thought this needed some ribbon (and a bow!!  LOL!!!) and I dug out of my stash this luscious ruffled suede ribbon that I got at the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store.  I thought it need a little extra, so after much rummaging, I found some red gingham - but it was red and white and I needed cream.......soooooo, I coloured it with a bit of E51 Copic and toned all that white down!!  :)  Perfect!!  Finished off with a bow and added a few pearls to the top corners!  :)

Stamps - Backyard Birds (JustRite)
Paper - X-press It Blending Card, Always Artichoke, Very Vanilla, Riding Hood Red, Echo Park Merry Christmas DP
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories - Copics, Label 1, Large Circle and Scallop Circle Nestabilities, Martha Stewart Loop Punch, Ruffled Suede Ribbon, Red Gingham Ribbon, Bow Easy, Kasiercraft Latte Pearls, Foam Tape.

That's all from me today, thanks for visiting!!!  :)

Peaceful Green

Hello Everyone!!  Today I got to play in two challenges - Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge (don't you love this sketch.....might even make another one yet!!  ;) ) and The Shabby Tea Room Challenge to either use green or be inspired by nature......obviously I chose the 'green' option!!  :)

I started with a base of dark green bazzill and layered with white and some Memory Box Frond DP which I sewed around the edge.  For the vertical panel I stamped Brocade Background in ODBD Olive ink on white and matted with more dark green punched with the Arch Lattice border punch.  Over this I attached some white grosgrain ribbon.  The circle was made by using the largest two circle nestabilities and then I accented with some white pearls.  I then stamped the Brocade Borders and sentiment from Peace in Memento Tuxedo Black and coloured the frame with Copics (G20, G21, G24) and matted with more dark green and popped it up on foam tape.  I finished by adding a white bow made with my Bow Easy to the top corner.

Paper - X-press It Blending Card, Dark Green Bazzill, White, Memory Box Frond DP
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black, ODBD Olive

Sailing...

Hi Everyone!!  Father's Day is fast approaching here in Australia, so today I've used this week's Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge to create a nautical card for my Dad.  This would also be perfect for this month's CopicOz challenge to make a Masculine Card and use your Copic Markers!!! For your chance to win 12 Spica Pens, Click HERE!!!  Dad loves the ocean and used to sail a lot in his younger days, so I went with JustRite's By the Sea set for this card!  (Mum, make sure Dad isn't looking over your shoulder!!!!)  :)

I started with a base of Chocolate Chip and layered with White and some Kaisercraft Pack Your Bags DP.  Then I added the embossed blue layer and topped with a panel of more chocolate (punched on one side) and the reverse of the same DP.  I then used the Label 10 and Large Oval Nestabilities to create a frame that I then popped up on foam tape.  I stamped the sailboat from By the Sea in Memento Rich Cocoa on X-press It Blending Card and coloured with Copics (BG0000, BG11, BG13, G20, G21, B000, B21, B24, C1, C3, E31, E33, E35, 0).  It was cut out with Large Oval Nestabilities and popped up on foam tape.  To finish I made a Sailors Knot with some twine and attached to the scallop layer.  (Dad is going to be so impressed that I now know how to tie this knot!!  LOL!!!)

Stamps - By the Sea (JustRite)
Paper - X-press It Blending Card, Chocolate Chip, White, Blue Bazzill, Kaisercraft Pack Your Bags Compass DP

Take Flight

Hi Everyone!!  Today JustRite are featuring the new Font called Myriad-Pro.  The one I have used today is the 50pt Font and comes with both Upper Case and Lower Case in the one pack!!!  Now you have the convenience of being able to use upper and lower in the one sentiment or verse and only buy one set!  If you want your Font bigger (perfect for scrapbooking) - it also comes in 95pt!!!  I've also used another of the new birds from the Backyard Birds set, this time it is the American Goldfinch.  This card is also for Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge - what an awesome sketch this week!!  :)

I started with a base of yellow bazzill and layered with black and some Fly a Kite DSP.  I've stamped the first part of the sentiment in the top corner using Myriad-Pro 50pt Font in Memento Tuxedo Black.  The next two panels are more DSP and more yellow bazzill, both matted with black.  On the yellow panel I've stamped the second part of the sentiment using the same Font.  Across these two panels I've attached some white satin ribbon.  The image is the American Goldfinch from the Backyard Birds set and has been stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on X-press It Blending Card and coloured with Copics (Y11, Y15, Y17, C1, C3, C5, E53, G12, G24, G28, V01, V15, V17, 0).  Although this set is designed for the Large Circle Nestabilites, I've actually cut it with Small Oval Nestabilities and matted it with hazel and black bazzill cut with Label 12 Nestabilties and then popped up on foam tape.  I finished by adding a small white bow to the side and some white pearls to the corner.

Stamps - Myriad-Pro 50pt Font, Backyard Birds (JustRite)
Paper - X-press It Blending Card, Yellow, Black and Hazel Bazzill, October Afternoon Fly a Kite DSP

Christmas in July!

Hello Everyone!!  Today the challenge on the JustRite Stampers Blog is Christmas in July!  Because it is actually the middle of Winter here in Australia I am in that chilly kind of mood so I used the brand new Groovy Snowman set for my main panel and the matching snowflake and sentiment from another new set called Holiday Cheer.  In my part of the world it never, ever snows and I have to say I'm not fond of cold weather at all - so these are my kind of snowmen....the type you colour and put on a card!!!  :)  Maybe one day I'll go somewhere where I can actually make a snowman!  :)  The layout is from this week's Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge!

I started with a base of red bazzill and layered with a piece of white that I punched with the single embossed curve punch.  Next I took two pieces of Christmas Carnival DSP and the bottom piece I punched with the same punch and cut it into three pieces.  I added a piece of ribbon between the two different patterned papers.  I then stamped my Snowman from Groovy Snowman onto X-press It Blending Card in Memento Ink and coloured with Copics (C1, C3, C5, C7, R02, R24, R29, R89, BG0000, B00, G24, G28, YR16, YR18, YR000, Y21, Y35, 0) and then cut out with Large Circle Nestabilities and matted with a piece of red cut with Blossom 2 Nestabilities and popped up on foam tape.  The small sentiment circle is from Holiday Cheer and also stamped on X-press It Blending Card in Memento Ink and coloured with B000 Copic.  It's been cut with Large Circle Nestabilities and matted with two pieces of red cut with Small Circle Nestabilities with a piece of silver cord in between.  The cord was attached to the white bow and added to the ribbon.  To finish I added Clear Spica to both snowflakes and also to the red blossom nestabilities panel edges.

Stamps - Groovy Snowman, Holiday Cheer (JustRite)
Paper - X-press It Blending Card, Red Bazzill, White, Kaisercraft Christmas Carnival Collection DSP
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories - Copics, Clear Spica, Small and Large Circle Nestabilities, Blossom 2 Nestabilities, EK Success Single Embossed Curve Border Punch, White Satin Ribbon, Bow Easy, Silver Cord, Foam Tape.

MTSC81 Ipodabella

Hello Everyone!  Sorry I've been quiet lately, with the children on school holidays I've had less 'play' time than normal!  :)  Today I decided to play in one of my favourite challenges, Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge!  :)  I actually coloured this Ipodabella from Stamping Bella earlier in the week and used it for my tutorial about creating texture with fabric and blender solution (aka the Nasty Rag technique) which can be found on the CopicOz Blog!

I started with a base of brown bazzill and layered with white (pierced) and then a piece of Hey Birdie DSP.  Next is another piece of brown that I punched one side with the Lacy Days of Summer border punch and then topped with some more Hey Birdie paper.  Across the bottom I added some cream satin ribbon.  I had stamped Ipodabella in Memento Tuxedo Black onto X-press It Blending Card and coloured her with Copics (R81, R83, R85, E50, E51 E53, E21, E25, E27, E29, C3, C1, Silver Spica).  I cut it out with small oval nesties (and added a little sponging), matted with Rose Red and some lighter pink bazzill.  Finished by adding a small cream prima (thanks to my friend Michelle), a Kaisercraft pink rhinestone and of course a cream bow!!  :)

Stamps - Ipodabella (Stamping Bella)
Paper - X-press It Blending Card, Rose Red, White, Pink and Brown Bazzill, Kaisercraft Hey Birdie DSP
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black

MTSC79 Just For You

Today I got to play the Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge.  I really love Mercy's sketches - you can layer them up or keep them simple.  Today I opted for keeping it simple!  :)  I also was able to ink up the brand new set by JustRite Stampers called All Occasions Sentiments and Verse.  What a fabulous set for the cards you make for the every day events in your life!!!  In this case it's simply, Just For You!  :)

I started with a base of Very Vanilla and layered with some aqua bazzill (pierced around the edge) and then some October Afternoon Thrift Shop DSP.  I changed the rectangle panel to a Label 4 panel of vanilla, embossed and then ran my BG10 Copic around the edge (no more worrying about accidentally going over the edge because I have my Colourless Blender to push any mistakes back in!!!).  I stamped the sentiment from All Occasions Sentiments and Verse in Memento London Fog and used the new Clear Horizontal Stamper which made it so easy to line up (because I am terribly lazy and hate having to get out the stamp-a-ma-jig!).   Next I ruffled some of this GORGEOUS ruffled suede ribbon, attaching it with some X-press It High Tack Tape (which is totally brilliant I have to say!) and then added a paper flower that I made using the Spellbinders Dahlia die, accenting with some branches punched with matching card.  To finish I added some Kaisercraft Blush Pearls under the sentiment and then a few more in the top corner (you can never have too many pearls!  ;)  ).

Stamps - All Occasions Sentiments and Verse (JustRite)
Paper - Very Vanilla, Aqua Bazzill, October Afternoon Thrift Shop DSP
Ink - Memento London Fog
Accessories - Copic BG10, Ivory Ruffled Suede Ribbon, Dahlia Nestabilities, Martha Stewart Branch Punch, Paper Piercer, Mat Pack, Kaisercraft Blush Pearls.

That's all for today, thanks for visiting!!!

MTSC75 Praying for You

Today I have a sneak peek of the brand new Our Daily Bread designs set called From Me To You!  Full of personal sentiments from one person to another and also this divine fuchsia stamp!!!!  It will be available from the 1st of June!  I've coloured them in the traditional pink and purple, but I discovered while googling that they come in all shades of pink, some even have cream and there is even one that I've found is cream and BLUE!  I've also used this week's Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge for the layout!  :)

I started my card with a Very Vanilla base and layered with black, some La Creme DSP and then added some satin ribbon across it.  Next I stamped the sentiment in versamark ink and embossed with Gold Detail EP on black cardstock and cut it out with Mega Curved Rectangle Nestabilities.  Then I used a gold pen to go around the embossed line to give a bit of definition.  I stamped the fuchsias onto X-press It Blending Card and coloured with Copic Markers (RV02, RV06, RV09, V12, V15, V17, YG03, YG63, YG67) and then cut them out using scissors and a scalpel and popped it up on foam tape over the corner of the nestabilities panel.  To finish I added a knot to the ribbon and some Kaisercraft Black Pearls to the top corner.

May Day with ODBD!

Hello everyone! Welcome to Our Daily Bread designs May Release Blog Hop! The hop will run from May 1 through Monday, May 3 at 8PM Eastern Time. The winners will be announced on the ODBD blog on Tues. May 4.

Today we are having a May Day Hop - in the Northern Hemisphere it is May Day and for many they remember making May Baskets, filling them with Spring flowers and leaving it on their neighbours doorstep as a surprise gift!  In honour of this tradition through the hop today, you have to find flowers at each designer's blog to fill our May Day Basket.  If you have come here from Becca's Blog you are in the right place - if not, go back at the ODBD Blog to start your journey!  :)

There will be three winners for this hop. Each winner will receive a $15.00 store credit toward stamps at the Our Daily Bread designs store!

Here is what you need to do to qualify to win:

1. Hop from blog to blog, leaving a comment and collecting the flower that designer is giving away.

2. Return to the ODBD blog and leave a comment that you completed the hop and left comments for each designer. If you were unable to leave a comment for any one, just state their name in this comment and you will still be entered into the drawing. This is meant to be fun, not stressful.

3. Send me an email at gnywening@yahoo.com giving me the names of the designers and the flowers you collected.

If for any reason you get lost along the way, just return to the ODBD Blog for the list of names.

Now, onto my card....

I used this week's Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge for the layout and this will also qualify for the Mad for Markers Challenge to make a Monochromatic Project.  I started with a base of black and layered with some Tangerine Tango and Cosmo Cricket Material Girl DSP.  Across the bottom third I've attached some So Saffron grosgrain ribbon.  This beautiful image is from the brand new As You Graduate set by Our Daily Bread designs and has been stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and coloured with Copics (Y21, YR23, YR16, C3, C1) to create a vivid sunset and I've also added a little atyou Gold Spica to the butterflies.  I stamped the butterflies twice, coloured them and popped a couple up for dimension.
I cut out the image and then framed it with the Mega Curved Rectangle die cut in black and popped the whole panel up on foam tape.  The sentiment is also from As You Graduate and I've added a little Copic E50 around the rim and softened it with a blender so that the sentiment panel was not so stark against the rest of the card.  To finish I added some Kaisercraft Black Pearls to the top and bottom corners and I've added a bow made with my Bow Easy to the ribbon!

Stamps - As You Graduate (ODBD)
Paper - Black Bazzill, Tangerine Tango, X-press It Blending Card, Cosmo Cricket Material Girl DSP
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories - Mega Curved Rectangle Nestabilities, Petite Oval Large Nestabilities, Copics, Kaisercraft Black Pearls, So Saffron Grosgrain Ribbon, Bow Easy, Foam Tape.

I hope you've enjoyed my project today and before you leave have some beautiful Gladiolas to put in your basket!!

Now head on over to see what fabulous eye candy GRACE has for you and enjoy the hop!!!  :)

Faithful Lillies

Hello Everyone!!  Today I have a card that I've made for the JustRite Stampers Challenge which is sponsored this week by Spellbinders!!  You have to use two JustRite Stamp Sets and at least two different Spellbinders die shapes!!  There are great prizes up for grabs so check it out on the JustRite Blog!!!  I've also used the sketch from this week's Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge MTSC69 - the muse this month is none other than our own JustRite Girl Debbie Olsen!!

I've used three Spellbinders shapes - Large Oval Nestabilities, Large Circle Nestabilities and Label 11 Nestabilities.  The two JustRite sets I've used are the Breath of Spring for the Lillies of the Valley and the sentiment is from the Tiny Words set.  The Tiny Words set, along with all products in the 1 3/16th size are 20% off for a short time - you can find them HERE!!!

I used a base of Kiwi Kiss and layered with Very Vanilla embossed with Swiss Dots.  The next two panels are pieces of Kaisercraft Devonshire Collection DSP matted with more Kiwi Kiss (the vertical panel punched with the Martha Stewart Arch Lattice Punch and I've attached a piece of ivory ribbon).  I've stamped the Lillies of the Valley from Breath of Spring in Memento Tuxedo Black and coloured with Copics (YG03, YG63, YG67, C1) and then added touches of sparkle with the Spica Clear Pen.  I cut this out with Large Oval Nestabilities and matted with Baja Breeze cut with Label 11 Nestabilities.

The sentiment panel is from the Tiny Words set and has been stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and Old Olive.  I cut the border and centre out with Large Circle Nestabilities and popped the centre up on foam tape.  I gave the butterfly I touch of colour with Copics Y11 and Y21.  To finish off the card I added an ivory bow to the ribbon and topped it with a blue button and silver cord.

Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black

Birthday Boy

I made this for my brother who is celebrating his birthday today.  When I saw the new Happy Father's Day set by ODBD I knew this masculine image would be perfect for him!!  I based it on the MTSC67 - then I realised I forgot to add the embellishment to the corner of the feature panel - ooooops!!!

I started with a base of Very Vanilla, layered with Old Olive and some MME Little Boy Blue DSP.  The strip across the middle is more Vanilla punched with the EK Success Dotted Wave punch and then pierced the top.  Through the middle of that I added my MME DSP and the added a piece of natural twill ribbon.  I then stamped the tool box from Happy Father's Day and coloured it with markers and a blender pen, adding a little sponging around the top of the image.  I cut it out with Sm Circle Nesties and matted with Old Olive cut with Lg Circle Nesties and popped up on foam tape.  I finished the front with some silver brads in the top and bottom corners.
I normally don't embellish the insides of my Man Cards - but it is my little brother, so why not?!  :)  I used the same materials as the front of the card and added the sentiment from the new DAD set by ODBD.

Stamps - Happy Father's Day, Dad (ODBD)
Paper - Very Vanilla, Old Olive, MME Little Boy Blue DSP
Ink - Chocolate Chip
Accessories - Lg and Sm Circle Nestabilities, Twill Ribbon, Paper Piercer, Silver Brads, EK Success Dotted Wave Border Punch, Foam Tape.

That's all for today, thanks for visiting!!!

MTSC64 Beautiful Violets

Today I FINALLY had the chance to play Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge!  I have to say, I really love Mercy's Sketches!!  I'm also using the new ODBD set called The Lord is Risen which is perfect for Easter cards, although I can see that I'm going to be using these beautiful violets A LOT!  :)  There are a lot of exciting things happening at ODBD to celebrate their second anniversary starting on Saturday morning (US time)!!!  There are challenges and candy galore culminating in a special reveal on the 17th!!!  Make sure you stop by the ODBD Blog each day for details!!!  :)

Back to today's card; I started with a base of purple bazzill and layered with white (pierced) and lighter purple.  Next I added a piece of Kaisercraft Lilac Avenue DSP and punched one edge with the Martha Stewart Lattice Arch Punch.  The next panel is more white, this time punched with the EK Success Dotted Wave Border Punch and layered with more Lilac Avenue DSP.  Over the top of both panels I added some light purple satin ribbon.  Finally I cut a piece of white with the Label 1 Nestabilities and lightly sponged the centre with Lovely Lilac Ink.  I stamped the violets from The Lord has Risen in Memento Tuxedo Black and coloured with markers and a blender pen and then cut them out and popped them up on foam tape.  To finish I added the verse from the same set to the bottom of the card, a few Kaisercraft Snow Pearls to the top corner and a bow made with the Bow Easy to accent the ribbon.

Stamps - The Lord has Risen (ODBD)
Paper - Purple Bazzill (2 shades), White, Kaisercraft Lilac Avenue DSP

MTSC63 Pink Tulips

Hello Everyone!  Today I had the chance to play Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge - I loved this sketch and it gave me the chance to open my new Label 11 Nestabilities!  I also used the new Breath of Spring set by JustRite Stampers, using this beautiful bouquet of tulips.

I started with a base of pink bazzill, layered with white (pierced) and some MME Pretty Please DSP.  Through the middle I attached two pieces of pink satin ribbon and knotted them on the side and then added two Cuttlebug Vintage die cuts to the corners.  I've stamped the tulips and borders from Breath of Spring in Memento Tuxedo Black twice and coloured one of the tulips with markers and a blender pen and cut it out and popped it up.  The border has been cut with Large Classic Oval Nestabilities and matted with the matching pink scallop and finally framed it all with the new Labels 11.  To finish I added some Kaisercraft Rose Pearls to each of the decorated corners and the top and bottom of the Label 11.

Stamps - Breath of Spring (ODBD)
Paper - Pink Bazzill, Smooth White, MME Pretty Please DSP
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories - Label 11, Large Classic Oval, Large Scallop Oval Nestabilities, Cuttlebug Vintage Die, 1/2" Pink Satin Ribbon, Paper Piercer, Matt Pack, Markers, Blender Pen, Kaisercraft Rose Pearls, Foam Tape.

MTSC60 Happy Birthday Dad!!

Today is my Dad's birthday and I wanted to use a relaxed sea theme for his card.  Dad loves the ocean and used to sail when he was younger so I thought this serene scene would be perfect.  I also used this weeks Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge for the layout - it was perfect for what I wanted to do.

I started with a base of Baja Breeze and layered with Chocolate Chip, White and some Windsor Knot DSP.  Next I took a piece of Chocolate Chip punched on one side with the EK Success Dotted Wave punch and layered with some Close to Cocoa DSP.  Over the top I took three pieces of natural twine and knotted it in the centre.  The image is from Beach Life by Flourishes.  I stamped it in Memento Tuxedo Black and coloured it with markers (Choc Chip, Creamy Caramel, Old Olive, Brocade Blue, Bashful Blue) and cut it into a square that would fit inside the deckle edged rectangle of Chocolate Chip.  Finally I stamped the sentiment from Just a Note by JustRite in Chocolate Chip, cut it out with circle nestabilities and mounted it on a circle of Chocolate Chip and popped it up on Foam Tape.

Stamps - Just a Note (JustRite), Beach Life (Flourishes)
Paper - Baja Breeze, Chocolate Chip, White, Windsor Knot DSP, Close to Cocoa DSP
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black, Chocolate Chip
Accessories - Deckle Edge Rectangle Nestabilities, Small and Large Circle Nestabilities, EK Success Dotted Wave Border Punch, Markers, Blender Pen, Natural Twine, Foam Tape.

That's all for today, thanks for visiting!!!  :)

You Make Me Smile!

Welcome to the third day of sneak peeks!!  Today the JustRite girls are showcasing Seeds of Kindness!  This set is made up of 6 centres and borders in the 1 5/8th size.  Today however, I have only used the centre and paired it with the flowers from Plant a Little Love.  Both sets are available for pre-order from Monday 18th January and shipping on the 20th!  I was inspired by Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge (they are always fantastic to kick that mojo into gear!!) MTSC56!   I know the ribbon isn't in the right place, but it just wouldn't fit the other way!!!  :)

I started with a base of Riding Hood Red and layered with white (pierced), gold and some Bella Rose DSP.  The vertical panel is more white that's been punched with the Martha Stewart Arch Lattice border punch and layered with more Bella Rose.  Next I added a piece of Old Olive that's been embossed with Swiss Dots EF and across both panels attached a piece of 1/2" white satin ribbon.  The feature panel has been stamped using the flowers from the soon to be released Plant A Little Love in Memento Tuxedo Black (twice) and the sentiment from Seeds of Kindness in Old Olive next to one set of flowers.  I colours both sets of flowers with markers and a blender pen and then cut one with Label 4 Nestabilities and the flowers from the second set were popped up on top of the first.  To finish I added a line of gold around the edge of the Label 4 and popped the panel up on foam tape and added a bow to the top of the ribbon.

For more inspiration see the creations of Barb, Angela and the JustRite Blog!!
