Brotherly Love

Hello Everyone!  Did you catch the latest release by Our Daily Bread Designs?  If not, you're in luck as the Bread Sticks are having a look back today and you can see all the latest and greatest!  I'm using the new Brother in Christ stamp set and pairing it up with this fabby new frame die aptly called Flourishy Frame!  You can see all the release on the ODBD Blog today if you want to pop over and check it out!

My first card (above) has used a black base, layered with blue card and topped with By The Shore paper.  I've stamped the image from Brother in Christ in Stazon Black and then created my scene with Daydream and Sugared Lavender inks.  Not that you can see it in the picture, but I've added some Clear Spica around the moon and a little on the water for a bit of shimmer.  I've cut this to size and matted with black card cut with Flourishy Frame.  Finally I stamped the sentiment from Brother in Christ onto white card, die cut with Pierced Circles Dies and popped up on foam tape.

Stamps - Brother in Christ (ODBD)
Paper - ODBD By The Shore Paper Collection, Black, White, Blue
Ink - Stazon Black, CP Daydream, CP Sugared Lavender
Accessories - ODBD Dies: Flourishy Frame, Pierced Circles; X-press It Foam Tape

My next card I aimed for a sunshiny scene!  With a base of blue, topped with yellow and cream, I've then added a strip of By The Shore shell paper across the bottom.  To add a bit of sparkle across the join I've added some wide bronze Glitter Deco Tape.  I've stamped the image from Brother in Christ in black and sponged Tea Dye ink across the bottom, It's a Boy ink across the top and Cantaloupe for the sun.  I've cut this to size and matted with blue card cut with Flourishy Frame die.  I've stamped the sentiment in black at the bottom and added a few pewter pearls for balance.

Stamps - Brother in Christ (ODBD)
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black, CP It's a Boy, TH Tea Dye, Memento Cantaloupe
Paper - ODBD By The Shore, Blue, Yellow, Cream, White
Accessories - ODBD Flourishy Frame Die, Bronze Glitter Deco Tape, Pewter Pearls

30 Day Colouring Challenge!

Hello Everyone!  Have you heard of Kathy Racoosin's 30 Day Coloring Challenge??  If not, it's happening this month!  This movement started a while ago with Kathy encouraging people to colour every day - even if only for 10mins a day.  You can read all about it on her blog which can by found at The Daily Marker!  Kathy is such an amazing artist and her blog is well worth a visit even if you aren't following the 30 Day Coloring Challenge.

The Bloom Brigade are playing along with the challenge and are having a blog hop with lots of creativity to inspire you!  You can read all about it on the Power Poppy Blog!  I've used one of the latest release clear stamp sets called Poppy XL - a GORGEOUS poppy with mix and match pieces that I just adore!

http://www.thedailymarker.com/2018/06/day-1-the-daily-marker-30-day-coloring-challenge/

Here's a little step by step showing the four Copic Colours I've used for my pink poppy!  (FYI - I actually coloured the entire flower and then realised I forgot to photograph the steps so there may be slight variation with the final image.)

I've stamped this beautiful image from Poppy XL in Memento Tuxedo Black on X-press It Blending Card.  I wanted to create one of those soft, pretty, pink poppies, so I've started with Copic RV00 leaving white space for the contrast.

Next I've started deepening those areas with Copioc RV52.

Deepen those shading areas with RV32 - a dusty pink compared with the light RV52.

Really deepen those colours with RV34!

Lightly go over these areas with the above colours until you get the look you want.  You will lose some of the depth of the dark colour when blending with the lighter colours, but you can always add more if you like.  I wanted to keep a softer colour though.

Keep going on all the petals until you've finished the entire flower.  (The middle is coloured with V22, V25, V28, YG01).

  • I've used a peach base, layered with So Saffron and then used the honeycomb element from Bee Kind Toile and the MISTI to stamp the background.  I've also used a corner rounded to punch the bottom corners of each layer.  I've then cut a pennant out of peach card and attached to the middle of the card.  I've stamped the flower images, bee and sentiment from Bee Kind Toile in Memento Tuxedo Black onto X-press It Blending Card and coloured with Copics.  I've die cut with Small Circles Dies and matted with So Saffron cut with Lacey Circles Dies and then popped up on X-press It Foam Tape.  To finish I've accented with some large rhinestones.

    June ODBD Release!

Hello Everyone!  It's the first of the month and that means it's time for a brand new release by Our Daily Bread Designs!  This month it's all about siblings and I've been using Brother in Christ - with two awesome silhouette images and a mixture of sentiments perfect for your brother or brother in Christ!  We also have some gorgeous new dies and for today's card I've used Lacey Corner Dies for a beautiful decorative effect!

I've used a white base and then cut blue with Lacey Corner Dies for the edging.  Around this I've added some wide wired hessian (burlap) ribbon.  Next I've cut white card using Double Stitched Squares dies and matted with green cut with Lacey Corner Dies.  I've then stamped the sentiment from Brother in Christ in Versafine Black Ink and popped the whole panel up on foam tape.  To finish I've accented with a few buttons.

Stamps - Brother in Christ (ODBD)
    Ink - Versafine Black
    Paper - White, Blue, Green
Accessories - ODBD Dies: Lacey Corners, Double Stitched Squares; Hessian Ribbon, Buttons, X-press It Foam Tape
