Confirmation Day!

Hello Everyone!  If you've been following my blog over the last month you may have caught a couple of Confirmation cards that I have been making for the kids in our church --- well today is Confirmation Day and my son, Zachary, will be Confirmed along with seven other boys and girls from our church.  Although I did make Zac a card that will be given to him from the church along with the others, the one above is the one I've made for him from us.  :)  It is such a joy to see him take the sacraments and we are so proud of him!

Now he normally prefers cards to be 'plain' - yes go on, roll your eyes because I did!  Plain!  Really?  Well I tried, it's probably a little bit OTT for him but I hope he likes how this turned out.

I've created layers of black and white (embossed with Cane Weave).  Then I made layers of black topped with strips of red topped with photocopied page from Corinthians which was then sponged with Antique Linen ink and then this layer popped up on X-press It High Tack Foam Tape on the embossed layer.  Around all these layers I've attached some cream mesh and some hessian ribbon (burlap ribbon).  Next I've stamped Cross of Nails by Our Daily Bread Designs in Memento Tuxedo Black onto X-press It Blending Card and coloured with Copics and then fussy cut.  The sentiment is from ODBD's Confirmation stamp set, stamped in Versafine black and then cut with Radiant Rectangles.  Under this is a piece of black cut using Majestic Labels 25 and a piece of Cherry Cobbler cut with Labels 25 and then popped this up on the mesh/ribbon layers.  Finally I've glued all of this to the front of a folded piece of Cherry Cobbler.

Inside I've added a piece of white card that I've stamped the door from Ask, Seek, Knock in Desert Sand and then the sentiment from the same set in Versafine black.  Why this you ask?  Well this is the verse that Zac has chosen as his Confirmation Verse and I thought it would be a nice touch to add it inside.  Interestingly, way back in 2009 when I had my very first month as a Guest Designer for Our Daily Bread Designs; Ask, Seek, Knock was the first set I was given to work with!  :)

Joyful Confirmation

Hello Everyone!  It's Power Poppy Friday and time to have a peek at some of the fabulous creations the Bloom Brigade have been making this week!  As I mentioned a couple of weeks ago, I've been making cards for the 8 kids doing Confirmation at our church....which is this Sunday!!  I can't believe it's finally here and I've been running around like a crazy person getting things done!  For this card, I've used Power Poppy's Joyful Lilies digi set.  Because it's a digi, I took a little creative license and stretched it just a bit to make the cross a tad longer.  :)

I've used a base of Cherry Cobbler and layered with white, black, a piece of white cut with Noble Rectangles and then more Cherry Cobbler also cut with Noble Rectangles.  Around this I've attached white and red ribbons.  I've printed the slightly elongated Joyful Lilies onto X-press It Blending Card and coloured it with Copics then cut it out with Oval Nestabilities.  I've then stamped the name in black ink to personalise the card.  I then took a piece of gold card and cut it with Elegant Ovals and popped it up on X-press It High Tack Foam Tape.  To finish I just added the bow.

Stamps - Joyful Lilies (Power Poppy)
Paper - X-press It Blending Card, Cherry Cobbler, White, Black, Gold
Ink - Printer, Versafine Black
Accessories - Copics, Spellbinders Noble Rectangles, Oval Nestabilities, Elegant Ovals, White and Red Ribbons, Bow Easy, X-press It High Tack Foam Tape

I wonder what the Bloomies have been making this week?  Better swing by and take a peek!

I've used a base of Marina Mist and layered with white and some old DP from my stash (I think it's called Sunshine by MME).  Around this is some cream mesh topped with So Saffron grosgrain ribbon.  I've stamped the vase of sunflowers and sentiment from In Praise of Sunflowers in Memento Tuxedo Black onto X-press It Blending Card and coloured with Copics (Y21, Y35, Y38, YR24, YR27, YG03, YG93, YG97, E23, E27, E39, E49, N5, W0, W1, W3, W5, B0000, B000, B21, BG10, BG53, BG57).  I've cut this out with a stitched die and matted with So Saffron and Marina Mist and popped it up on X-press It High Tack Foam Tape.  To finish I've added a few buttons.

Power and Spark - Sympathy

Hello Everyone!  Today is the first Friday in August and you know what that means.....it's time for a NEW Power Poppy Power and Spark Challenge!  This month our lovely hostess is JULIE who has challenged us to C.S.I!!  No, it’s not what you think. We’re not on the case – we ARE CASE-ing. We are challenging YOU to Copy, Steal, Inspire! All you need to do is pick a Power Poppy creation somewhere in blog land by any designer and be inspired by it. Then, create your own spin on the original design! Just that simple!

So who was my Muse for today's challenge???  It was CINDY!  I loved her card from June 3rd and changed up the image and colour palette but kept the style and layout.  You can find Cindy's card HERE!

I've used a white base and then added layers of white and FabScraps Enchantment DP across the bottom and wrapped some ribbon around it.  I've stamped the flower image from Soothing Sympathy in Memento Tuxedo Black onto X-press It Blending Card and coloured with Copics (BV31, BV34, BV25, V25, G40, G43, G46, E21).  I've cut this out with Small Circle Nestabilities and matted with blue card cut with Large Circle Nestabilities and popped it up on X-press It High Tack Foam Tape.  The sentiment from Soothing Sympathy has been stamped directly onto the card in black and I've finished by adding a few pearls and a bow to the ribbon.

Stamps - Soothing Sympathy (Power Poppy)
Paper - X-press It Blending Card, White, FabScraps Enchantment DP
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories - Copics, Spellbinders Small and Large Circle Nestaiblities, White Pearls, White Satin Ribbon, Bow Easy, X-press It High Tack Foam Tape

Now, it's not just Power Poppy Friday - because it's the 5th of the month it's also NEW DIGI DAY!!  The Instant Gardeners are joining in the fun and showcasing a new Digi!!  Want to see what the rest of the team have been cooking up and who has inspired them this month?  Pop by these blogs and have a peek!

That's all from me today, thanks for popping in to say hello and hope you are inspired to play along this month - we can't wait to see what you create!  :)
