Be Strong

Hello Everyone!!  If you stopped by yesterday you'll know that this month the JustRite girls are Crafting for a Cause!  The two sets that are being released this month are both to support people with cancer and in particular we are helping to fund raise for Ovarian Cancer in support of our Illustrator, Amy Tedder who is a 6yr survivor!!  Today's set is Be Strong and is a CLEAR set!!  Our first ever clear set and we hope you will embrace it and know that 20% of sales will go directly to Ovarian Cancer Research!!

JustRite Crafting For a Cause
In an effort to find an early diagnostic test or screening tool for Ovarian Cancer, JustRite Crafting For a Cause will donate 20% of the sales from Be Strong and Courage and Strength in 2011 to Ovarian Cancer Research. To learn more about the symptoms of this “silent killer “ visit www.OvarianCancer.org
Yesterday's card was teal in support of Ovarian Cancer, today's however is Orange - which is the colour for Leukemia.  (If you want to know more about ribbon colours for various cancer types, please scroll down to yesterday's post.)  I have a friend with Leukemia and there is no cure, only constant checking, tests and trying to stay in remission.  She doesn't tell people as she doesn't want to be defined by her disease - but let me tell you, she is one of the most amazing, strong, positive, incredible people I know and I feel privileged to be her friend!  I chose the 'Strength' sentiment especially for her!

My base is created of aqua bazzill, black and pumpkin pie topped with two pieces of MME Mabel DP.  Across this is a punched piece of pumpkin and topped with white crochet lace and white satin ribbon.  The decorative frame from Be Strong is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and cut out with Labels 10 Nestabilities.  This is matted with more Mabel DP cut with Labels 17 Nestabilities and I've hand cut a black frame for it.  The ribbon from Be Strong is stamped with Tuxedo Black onto X-press It Blending Card and coloured with the Orange Quad Copic Marker set (YR00, YR12, YR16, YR18), cut out with scissors and popped up on foam tape.  Next I've added a white bow to the ribbon, topped it with a pale orange button and gold cord.  The sentiment has been stamped in Tuxedo Black and cut out with JustRite's Nested Frame Dies and popped under the ribbon.  To finish I've added a few black pearls to the corners.
Stamps - Be Strong (JustRite)
Paper - X-press It Blending Card, Aqua Bazzill, Black, Pumpkin Pie, MME Mabel DP
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black
Accesories - Copics, Labels 10 and Labels 17 Nestabilities, JustRite Nested Frame Dies, MS Deco Fan Punch, White Crochet Lace, White Satin Ribbon, Bow Easy, Orange Button, Gold Cord, Black Pearls, Scissors, Foam Tape.

Don't miss the Incredible projects made by the rest of the JustRite Girls today....

What a truly worthy cause! My husband was diagnosed with leukaemia to and as you say all we can do is pray and trust his blood results stay low and keep him in remission. He has not told anybody either. I will add your friend ti my prayer list.

Wow, that card is very special. I'll be saying a prayer for your friend. I lost someone very special to me earlier this year to leukemia (a friend's DD) and it was way too soon for her to leave this world

What a beautiful image, beautiful set, beautiful card! Your friend is a brave and strong woman. I can understand her not wanting to be defined by her disease. I see too much of all cancers in the medical laboratory where I work. Those patients are some of the most lovely and courageous people I know.
