Hello Everyone! Today's card is a special one made for the Swimming for Katie shout outs that are going on in Blog World and on Facebook. If you haven't heard about Katie Renz's story, here's some background....
Katie’s cancer story started just before Christmas last year. This
young, beautiful, healthy, vibrant mother of 3 with her infectious smile
was suddenly diagnosed with an inoperable cancer, virtually overnight.
A few tummy aches and then stage 4 gastric cancer. Her first post
about it is here.
The idea of “Swimming for Katie” came from her recent post here.
Her post reminded me of Finding Nemo: “Don’t give up! Just keep
swimming! Keep swimming…just keep swimming…” because that was the only
way to survive and escape from the fisherman’s net.
Katie is a papercrafter and has been on design teams as well as a co-ordinator. I can't imagine how difficult things are for her and her family right now - we are the same age, both with 3 young children, it so easily could have been me. Papercrafters are an amazing lot, a few illustrators have used their talent to design digital stamps that are being sold at I *heart* Papers and all proceeds are going to the Renz family. I chose Marianne Walker's Keep Swimming Mermaid stamp and sentiment set! You can find the fundraising stamps HERE or the information and Donate page HERE.
Stamps - Keep Swimming Mermaid (Marianne Walker)
Paper - X-press It Blending Card, Aqua Bazzill, White, More Mustard, MME Hattie DP
Ink - Canon Printer Black
Accessories - Copics, Large, Small and Eyelet Circle Nestabilities, Clear and Buttermilk Spica Pens, Fiskars Threading Water Punch, Teal Button, Organdy ribbon, Bow Easy, Kaisercraft Snow Pearls.
At the moment, Katie is back in the hospital and very ill. Please buy a digi stamp or donate to support this family, it's such a small thing, but if the papercraft community pulls together, we can do it!

Thank you so much for helping Katie! And, what a beautiful job coloring!! :)
Beautiful card. And what a great cause
This is such a sad story. You've coloured the mermaid beautifully Kathy and I like the way you've got her in the water.
Hi Kathy,
Just catching up on your beautiful cards :) Thanks for sharing Katie's story, it really reminds us all how precious life is. I'm off to check out the digis now.
