A Rose to Start the Year!

Hellooooooo!!!!  I know it's been a long time since my last post - each year I have two weeks holiday time at Christmas and I down tools and spend the time celebrating Christmas and spending time with family and escape reality for a while. Sadly for me, that time is now over and I'm back at work and getting back into the swing of things again.......even if my kids are still on Summer Holidays and I have to go to work!!  SIGH!

What better way to jump back into my creative space than to colour up this pretty rose by Power Poppy!  Actually, I've done a little 'pruning' on this one - it's actually a digi stamp called La Vie en Rose and if you look at the original, I've erased the notepaper and quite a few leaves and buds to be left with a beautiful single stem rose!  I've also created this for the Teapot Tuesday which the theme is - Make a card with the theme of taking life one day at a time.  I think we all need to stop and smell the roses!!  :)

I've used Spellbinders Radiant Rectangles to create the base cutting layers of white (the back part you can't see), pink and cream.  Then the smaller one to cut the Secret Garden DP.  Around this I've attached some beautiful pink trim.  Next I've used the next die in the set to cut a piece of cream and stamped the sentiment from Dynamic Duos Peonies and Tulips in Versafine Black.  The rose from La Vie en Rose (once I've edited it a bit in photoshop) has been printed on X-press It Blending Card and coloured with Copics (RV00, RV52, RV55, RV66, G20, G21, G24, G28, E21, C3, C5).  I've fussy cut this out and popped it up on X-press It High Tack Foam Tape and then popped the whole panel up on foam tape as well.

Stamps - La Vie en Rose,  Dynamic Duos Peonies and Tulips (Power Poppy)
Paper - X-press It Blending Card, Cream, Pink, White, Kaisercraft Secret Garden DP
Ink - Printer, Versafine Black
Accessories - Copics, Spellbinders Radiant Rectangles, Pink Trim, X-press It High Tack Foam Tape

That's all from me today, hope you've all had a wonderful festive season and ready to get inky and inspired to stamp!

Oh, Kathy, this is exquisite, and I always love a single rose. And your coloring and fussy cutting are perfection! I especially love your layout with this beautiful die and your layering including some DP. And the ribbon is a lovely touch. It's fabulous, and the recipient is going to love! Well, sorry you have to go back to work, but I trust you had a wonderful time off with the family. Hugs, sweet friend, and thanks alway for your inspiration!

Wow! That is a gorgeous layered confection of loveliness, Kathy! So nice to be able to fool with digis in Photoshop. I really like this as a long-stemmed rose. Jaw dropping coloring, too, of course!
