January Power and Spark!

Hello Everyone!!!  Have you been waiting for the first Power and Spark Challenge for 2017?? Well the wait is OVER!!  Our lovely hostess this month is Stacy and she has a super easy one to kick of the year........WINTER BLOOMS!  If you live in the Northern Hemisphere and craving a little colour in your day then this challenge is for you!!  If you are like me and live in the Southern Hemisphere where it is the middle of Summer, let those colours burst into full bloom (or perhaps it's a heatwave and you're locked inside with the aircon on trying not to melt pretending that it's actually cooler..... come on Aussies, you know what I'm talking about!!!).

You don't have any Winter Blooms??  CLICK HERE for a link through to an abundance of sets to choose from!  Did you know that if you play along with us this month you can WIN a Power Poppy Stamp Set of YOUR CHOICE!!!  How awesome is that?!  You can find all the details on the Power Poppy Blog!

In Stacy's words.......When winter comes, many of us long to say goodbye to the chill and say hello to those cheerful and fresh spring flowers! Did you know there are lots of blooms that sprout at the end of winter (you can cheat and include early spring as well)? How about camellias, crocus, paperwhites, holly, snowdrops, or poinsettias? Let's see how you can bring these pretty little petals and glorious greens to life and enjoy this last bit of winter as well!

Today I've used Bloomin' Wonderful and stamped the flowers in Memento Tuxedo Black onto X-press It Blending Card and coloured with Copics (B60, B63, B66, Y21, YR30, YR31, C1, W1, E84, E87).  I've cut this into a rectangle, matted with River Rock and framed with Wisteria Wonder cut with 5x7 Detailed Scallops.  The card is made of white, Wisteria Wonder, Graphic 45 DP and some dark cream May Arts Ribbon.  I've attached the image to the front and then stamped the sentiment, also from Bloomin' Wonderful, cut it out with a circle punch and popped it up on foam tape.  SIDE NOTE: I *was* going to add some Nuvo Crystal Drops to the corners, but the bottle exploded as a squeezed it......seriously it went EVERYWHERE!!!  I tried to rescue it back into the bottle, but it was a disaster - paint was all over my work space, up my arms, all over my clothes.....everywhere!!  THANK GOODNESS it missed my card or I would have a heart attack.  Once I cleaned up the mess (with the help of Mr 11yrs), I decided to play it safe and reached for Kaisercraft pearls to finish off instead!  :P

I wonder if the other Bloomies have had crazy adventures this week like I have??  Better pop by and have a look!

Oh, Kathy, the first thing about your cards is your coloring - totally exquisite! And I love this beautiful layout with this gorgeous "lacy" scalloped die. I love the colors you've used, and I saw on Instagram your "explosion" of Nuvo drops! Eek, it's really a blessing it all missed your work! But the pearls are sure safer, aren't they? Ha! I have been playing with some Nuvo drops myself and have found that some are thicker than others...interesting, eh? Well, living in South Florida, we always have flowers of different kinds, but we sure are not has hot as you Aussies are? Please keep cool and safe!! Hugs and love, Cheryl xoxo

Kathy -- your coloring is divine my friend! Sorry about your crafting mishap. Maybe we should bubble wrap you for a bit and just let this wave of "stuff" pass! LOL! Take care sweet lady! :-)

Crocus and snowdrops are some of the most beautiful and welcome winter blooms and they'll be showing up here any day now. I figure winter blooms depend upon where you live. It must be gorgeous where you are right now. Your card shows the chill of winter with the promise of spring, and it's absolutely beautiful! Your Copic coloring is matchless with the very white snowdrops and the soft pussy willows. Eek, I'll have to be careful with my Nuvo drops! I've had squeeze bottles give me an unruly puff now and then, but nothing like your catastrophe. What a mess! Yes, so fortunate it missed your card. On the other hand, you might have created a new look that everyone would want to copy.
