Cross of Nails

Hello Everyone!  The Easter Season is upon us and in amongst the chocolate and bunnies, many of us reflect on the meaning of Easter and that Christ died for us.  I think it was last Easter, I was driving past a local church and saw on the sign a saying......."The key to Heaven was hung on a nail" - what an amazing, powerful image this brings and it has stayed with me.  I thought this Cross of Nails by ODBD would be perfect for an Easter card.

So I decided to play along with this week's ODBD Shining the Light challenge - He is Risen.....but I forgot the 'PASTELS' part!!!  D'OH!!!  To be fair, I did make this particular card for a man who probably wouldn't appreciate the delicate pastel shades anyway.  :)  Anyway, I'm going to submit it even though it's not very pastely!  :)

I've used a base of Very Vanilla and layered with green card, topped with very dark green cut with A2 Filigree Delight Die.  The dark green panel had the middle cut out with the oval die that comes with A2 Filigree Delight and the light green panel was cut with Small Oval Nestabilities.  I've then added another oval panel embossed with Spellbinders Cane Weave 3D MBossibilities and topped that with more dark green cut with a smaller die from A2 Filigree Delight.  The cross is the single set called Cross of Nails and has been stamped in black and coloured with Copics (N1, N3, N5, N7, E31, E33, E35) and fussy cut.  To finish I've stamped the sentiment from The Lord Has Risen and turned it into a double notched tag.

Stamps - Cross of Nails, The Lord Has Risen (ODBD)
Paper - Very Vanilla, Light Green, Dark Green, X-press It Blending Card
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories - Copics, Spellbinders A2 Filigree Delight, Small Oval Nestabilities; Cane Weave MBossilibilies

That's all from me today, thanks for visiting and hope you are inspired to stamp!  :)

Such a beautiful card Kathy! I love your layout and the colours you used (even if they aren't pastels :-) ). What an awesome verse to go with the Cross of Nails image telling of the true meaning of Easter! Thanks so much for joining us this week in the ODBD Shining the Light challenge! Elizabeth

Oh Kathy, your card took me completely by surprise and really stopped me in my tracks. A very powerful card indeed. Your colours are so striking and I love the weave behind the cross - reminiscent of the crown of thorns and more. My dear Mum told me long years ago 'had there been no Good Friday there could be no Easter Sunday'. With your graphic card you are reiterating that same message. Thank you.

Have a beautiful Easter.
